some of you might remember this. you also might remember that i was going to study ecology, but my lack of direction in that field later proved an insurmountable hurdle. the sustainable development program i'm going into is heavily based in social sciences as well as natural/environmental, so there was a distinct possibility i might not be able to use that money for it. i got that email just a few minutes ago and i was smiling and squealing and doing a little happy dance. with the conversion rate it's only 600 pounds, but hey, that's 600 pounds i can spend on other things. food, for example.
in addition to that, i also have $500 more in my Americorps education award than i'd thought. so between the two awards i now have 30% of my tuition covered!
i am now officially excited to be going to Exeter. i'm almost done with my visa application, i've applied for university housing, i'm pretty sure i've decided which classes i'm going to take, i've made a list of books i'll need, and i've been looking at student life - THEY HAVE A CHOCOLATE SOCIETY, PEOPLE.
i'm looking forward to having more structure in my life, more purpose, more direction, and more community. this is going to be a good thing.
