Welcome to happycraftsmas, everyone! Since the spotlight (yay!) is bringing a lot of new members to the community, we're going to be moderating it this week so we don't have random spam issues (boo).
Last week, I made lots of candy to pad my gifting stash. Fudge, marshmallows, caramels, hazelnut brittle, pralines, and I tried something I'd never made before: walnut penuche.
Walnut penuche is that fudge stuff that, instead of being chocolatey, is kind of mapley. It's one of my favorite candies, and I was really surprised at how easy it was compared to chocolate fudge!
Here's a great recipe for a pretty small batch. You will need a candy thermometer -- I just got
a Taylor Elite Candy Thermometer recently at Williams-Sonoma and I really like it. It was twenty bucks and well worth it for perfect penuche!
I've also been drinking Ibarra hot chocolate like mad this season and it's got me thinking -- cocoa mixes, anyone? What a nice combo with
Candy Cane Marshmallows.
Can you tell I'm a little addicted to Martha Stewart's holiday candy recipes? Nothing beats free searchable recipe databases for foodie crafting ideas.
Williams-Sonoma.com has one, too!
How about you guys? How do you pad your stockings with general handmade stuff?
