So,

I went to a conference for work, and it was tons of fun! There were over 500 people and some are so far up the food chain I've only read about them. The Crystal Gateway Marriott was amazing (I've stayed there once before - still nice!). BEST BED IN THE WORLD. I got a nice big room all to myself. Many people brought their special someones - I could have used some company ;)

I carpooled with Debi, Misty (Debi's daughter), Laura, and Mike. The first day we all went shopping underground, ate at Don Carlo's, and then played board games in my room. Day two I got my pleather portfolio and matching pen, clearly stating that I am an "Acquisition Specialist" and spent 8 hours listening to lectures. Diner at Cafe Italia with Laura, Terry and Jesus; it was great, I had gnocchi (my fav) and I don't ever get to hang with Jesus or Terry like that - it was fun. Day 3 I went to the morning workshop but started to get sick, and felt bad enough by lunchtime that I skipped the rest of the conference and went to bed until dinnertime....I chose the Lebanase Teverna for dinner, and Laura, Debi, Misty, Derrik, and Steve joined me for a great Mezza spread :) afterward we all hung out in the hotel lounge chatting late. I was supposed to go out and get stupid with Derrik and some of his guys who'd flown up from Florida, but I was too sick :( ...and then in the morning, we waited out a thunderstorm at the breakfast lounge before we headed back and I called out from the rest of work because I felt like crap. Good trip though. I especially liked the part where I got to use my government credit card (which was all the time) .
Funny thing is, Misty could swear she knew me from somewhere. We didn't go to high school together, or work together, or have girl scouts...it hit me on the last day: I had met her once, one night, 7 years ago at Lil Eva's bar. She was a sort of friend of Angie's and I had given her a ride home. She got a little worried when I started asking if she was obsessed with Marilyn Monroe, had a white house, and middle name was Dawn. She vaguely remembered us meeting when I mentioned Angie :) but how surreal is that!
