Hm.

This is the first weekend in four that I've actually had time to sit around and relax, so I was pretty happy about that. It was actually a pretty good weekend, and I had a great time. Very relaxed, and happy to say I didn't set a foot outside of my apartment today.

High Points:
  • Friday night, J and I took off had dinner at one of my favorite Japanese restaurants in Pasadena, Sushi of Naples, and an evening at the Philharmonic. This year being Mozart's 250th Birthday, they performed Mozart's Requiem. They also got a very talented pianist (Orion Weiss) to perform Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 25 in F major. Aside from vaguely reminding me of Napoleon Dynamite in looks, Weiss was a joy to watch. I loved the piano concerto; it was fun, light, and so well-executed!
  • Got up through chapter 12 of Emma Experiments outlined!
  • carried out some enjoyable flashback technique "research" by reading Nora Roberts's Opposites Attract, from anthology Rules of Play, and got some ideas that I must keep in mind in writing.
  • watched my newly arrived (non Patrick Swayze) North & South and ended up enjoying it even more than I had the first time around, if it was possible.
  • having Lina as a happy companion. I think the poor dear has been feeling abandoned recently, given that roommate and I have been at lab often this week. The icon (which I got from mklutz...thank you!) is for that. :)
  • talking with the_marchioness. I know it's been more than two weeks now that you've had Roarke, but really, I am thankful every day I go on line to find you there. It is fun to chat with you, and you are such a great person to bounce ideas off of. I know I've welcomed you back already, but I just wanted to let you know that you're the best. Really.

Low, low Low #$% points:
  • I had an eye appointment for new contacts. I got worse: -6 in each eye to -6.5. GRRRRR.
  • This was when I was really really stupid. (If you want to continue respecting me as a person, please skip this paragraph.) In my (meager) defense, it's been since I'd been truly shopping. (Granted, I don't like to go shopping often, and if I go, I can only last an hour or two.) But when Anthropologie called out to me (I was walking by it this weekend), I answered. *idiot, idiot, idiot*. They seduced me with $48 shorts that seemed cute. Then, since I was trying them on anyway, I decided to try a little of this and that too. What resulted? I ended up getting (shorts nowhere in sight!) a beautiful shirt and this gorgeous sweater (in orange, no less!). I felt like crap when I exited. The sweater I can somewhat rationalize, because I can't find pretty sweaters like that for cheap. But still. GAH. I love pretty things. Kill me now. I hate Anthropologie. Damn you! You make me feel that my Gap jeans and free T-shirts from college and chemical companies just aren't enough! It would serve me right if I got a huuuge acetone hole or ruthenium stain on my shirt. Idiot.

Overall, a nice weekend. The laser is down, so the progress I can make on my project is a bit limited. I'm doing what I can in turning out starting material, though.
