Having spent nine hours of my day today watching baseball, I feel pretty useless. And I feel like it's later than it really is.
Who else spent 6 hours of his/her afternoon watching 2 games' worth of baseball today? (Braves v. Astros) My only saving grace was that I spent the time also reorganizing my iTunes library. :p
I was incredibly worn out from the nail-biter, but I still wasn't too tired to watch and feel sad that the Angels lost later that evening. :(
I'll be the first to admit I'm a bigger fan of the Dodgers, but if I had to list my top three teams, they'd be:
1) Dodgers
2) Angels
3) Tigers (My original home team...)
Of course, many would argue that one shouldn't be allowed to have more than one favorite team, but at least my post season is a lot more interesting. :p
When the ALDS started, I had already convinced myself that the Angels wouldn't go too far, so the first loss wasn't so painful. However, when the Angels came around to do so well the last two games I started getting a bit hopeful. Now I'm just nervous. Very nervous.
Really, I can't decide what's sadder: getting swept or getting to game 5 and then losing.
Not even a week after I had submitted my draft of "Emma Experiments" to
psychocommagrlz, I started getting itchy to write again. At first I would reread what I wrote in EE and squirm, so I decided that it was time I turned out a crap draft of my next JAL installment. I had planned on writing "Annie Analyzes" next, but 500 words into it, I found that I was not pissed off enough to do it yet. :p Just as well, as I'll most likely need to write around some scenes between EE and AA.
Instead, because I had done a lot more planning on it, I decided to jump in and start working on Catherine Morland's story. I'm not really sure if Catherine really comes next, but I'll see how far I get in this. These past two days, J and I have been tossing titles back and forth, so it's still up in the air. Today, while organizing my music, I came across a lot of songs that made me think "Why don't I listen to this? This is perfect to write to and would be good for my Catherine story!" So I decided to put together my "soundtrack".
I often depend on music to put me in the mood and energize me, as well as keep me on task; I try to write 1000 words by the time my CD is over. My playlist for Emma Experiments was a mixture heavy in Dido and Sarah McLachlan, with a brief male influence from Guster:
1. The Real Thing. Gwen Stefani.
2. White Flag. Dido.
3. Stoned. Dido.
4. Don't Leave Home. Dido.
5. Sand in My Shoes. Dido.
6. Here With Me. Dido.
7. The Reason. Hoobastank.
8. Either Way. Guster.
9. Happier. Guster.
10. Two Points for Honesty. Guster.
11. Jackie's Strength. Tori Amos.
12. A Sorta Fairytale. Tori Amos.
13. Fallen. Sarah McLachlan.
14. Stupid. Sarah McLachlan.
15. Do What You Have To Do. Sarah McLachlan.
16. Sweet Surrender. Sarah McLachlan.
17. Fallen For You. Shiela Nichols.
18. Say Won't You Say. Jennifer Knapp.
The soundtrack for Catherine's story:
1. All I Wanna Do. Sheryl Crow.
2. Soak Up The Sun. Sheryl Crow.
3. Ocean Avenue. Yellowcard.
4. Just a Girl. No Doubt.
5. Spiderwebs. No Doubt.
6. Good Riddance. Green Day.
7. Ode To My Family. The Cranberries.
8. I Can't Be With You. The Cranberries.
9. Motorcycle Drive By. Third Eye Blind.
10. I Am So Ordinary. Paula Cole.
11. Champagne High. Sister Hazel.
12. Black Dove. Tori Amos.
13. Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps. Geri Halliwell.
14. Inner Smile. Texas.
15. Hot, Hot, Hot. Bina Mistry.
16. Atomic. Blondie.
17. Independence Day. Melanie C.
My take on my selections. More men, yes? Certainly more variety, which could be good and bad. We'll see. It's heavy into the Bend It Like Beckham soundtrack, as I remember
manda_in_sd's writing CD was. But hey! It's a great soundtrack, so who could blame anyone from taking a bit of inspiration from it? :) Some of these songs, I swear the last time I listened to them was back in college. I like it also because it has a more upbeat quality to it than the playlist I made for Emma's story. And I think this reflects my sneaking suspicion that Catherine's just a perkier person. :)
