Ha! I meant to write something on Monday about my weekend and now it's Friday, and there's another weekend ahead of me (this one less fun...bah)
Saturday tea with
jennlynnfs,
bijoux, and Elizabeth S was absolutely delicious and really fun.
bijoux also made these gorgeous yummy cupcakes, too! Was completely spoiled with presents; novels (a
Faye Kellerman (bought in Laos!),
Venus Envy, Meg Cabot's
How to be Popular), cookbooks (
Ellie Krieger and
Robin Miller), a wok with spatula, bath goodies (including the
yummiest smelling sugar scrub ever (brown sugar)) and of course, the luuuuvin' from Isaac! Damn that baby is so cute. Even cuter? Watching Jenn and her husband talk to him. ;)
Sunday was Disney-licious. J and I wandered the park, watching people, getting on the rides. Despite it being a little gray outside, and it being Easter, there were still a lot of people at the park. We ate lunch at
ESPN Zone at Downtown Disney, where we enjoyed four of baseball games simultenously while dining. :) Last year, Pirates of the Caribbean was closed for remodeling, so I was happy to get a chance to see the changes. Sadly, though the movie was inspired by the ride, the ride's been changed to be more like the the movie! :P All the same, it's pretty neat to see Jack Sparrow around...down to the eyeliner :) As always, being together off campus made J and I a happy two, and we told each other about our previous experiences in Disneyland/world.
Made two impulsive but happy purchases this weekend:
this purse and
this swimsuit. I've been carrying my purse around happily. The swimsuit's on backorder, so I'll have to wait a bit, but that's fine; they don't charge until they ship, so maybe it's just as well :)
My PC laptop, Elinor Dashwood, has been making noises at me recently, so I got concerned. Having two years of data, lots of presentations, my writing, and my music, well, I wanted to make sure everything was backed up before I sent Elinor off to get doctored up. To that end, I dug out the
external hard drive, Isabella Thorpe that I'd gotten a while back when I was worried about the health of my G3 ibook (Catherine Morland). There was only a firewire port on Isabella, so I thanked my lucky stars that I'd made sure that Elinor Dashwood had a firewire port (albeit 4 pin instead of 6). Ordered the cord. Got the cord. Reformatted the drive. Everything's safe. I called Dell today and they'll take her off next Monday for her holiday. Poor overworked thing. Until then, I also thank my lucky stars that I've kept Catherine Morland in pretty good shape for the past five years. :)
All in all, things are going well. Fell off the exercise pattern for two weeks and only did two times each week, but I'm back on it. Need to get back into cooking. But the lab work's going well and I'm chugging along, and so is the writing. I'm on Chapter Nine now. I'm happy and...I'm going to the Dodgers tonight...first baseball game for me this season. Derek Lowe against David Wells. WOOOOOOOOT!
