Fore!!!!
This is the week before the Buick Open - you ever hear of that little golf tournament?. My mom works at the country club where it's held. My parents, brother and I golfed there on Monday. I am not a golfer. I could have been, but because I was born with a uterus, I was never encouraged. Which is sad, because I come from a family of golfing fanatics. Every weekend, we watched golf (yawn). My dad and my uncle both worked for country clubs, so it was the culture I was in.
So here we are on Monday, and because I don't take it seriously, I'm able to loosen up and just enjoy the hell out of the day. My brother and I were partners. At one point, he said that he needed to be nicer to his 8 iron. Huh? He cheats on his putter with his 8 iron. But then, on the next hole, there he is, in the cart, stroking and baby-talking to his putter. I was dying laughing.
Anyway, the greatest part came on the 18th hole. There are workers all over the course, setting up the galleries and stands for the Open, and there were about 10 of them at the 18th hole. My ball was lying about 10 feet from the hole, and I really wanted to make it. Concious of my huge audience, I hit it perfectly and sank the putt! I waved to the workers, pumping my fists. This one sweet guy clapped, then I pretended to throw my ball to them, they all started clapping and whistling and stomping!!! That was a fine moment in my life. I believe I was born to be a star, and because I was a girl, wasn't told I could fulfil my golfing destiny.
The most awkward moment, I told my family later, was being peripherally involved in a threesome with my brother, his putter and me. LOL.
