Creepy Father Christmas, and Apocolyptica
Christmas is almost here, just one week til we break up- whoop whoop! On the down side, it's essay time, gah!
I've been having lots of fun lately watching the Christmas movies they play on TV every Sunday, yesterday was Elf :D Though as I was watching it it suddenly occure to me that Santa Claus, were he in our world today, would be in jail for serious breach of privacy laws- for example, to quote a popular song:
"You better watch out,
You better be Good, I'm telling you why,
Santa Claus is coming to town!"
Okay, so maybe that part of the song isn't too bad, apart from making Santa out to be some kind of monster hiding under your bed, but it goes on to be more disturbing:
"He knows when you are sleeping,
He knows when you're awake,
He knows if you've been bad or good,
So be good, for goodness' sake!"
Doesn't anyone else find this creepy? - Father Christmas has suddenly transformed into George Orwell's Big Brother, if you don't watch out, he'll come and get you! It's no different from the dirty tricks parents use to get their kids into bed at night, I bet some poor kids have already made the connection and instead of not being able to sleep due to excitement, they're pissing the bed in fear. And who wouldn't? A round bearded man breaks into your home, eats your mince pies and drops off suspicious looking parcels... Yes, Elf has given me much to think about.
Anyway, briefly, Apocolyptica: AMAZING! Sheer awesomeness! I would see them again and again, they put in such a great show- we were right at the front. 4 cellos and a drum base was all they needed :P And they played bittersweet!! and people were throwing bras, pants and a santa hat onto the stage- so one of them (think the names Perrtu or something) put on the hat and continued playing, ha! Though the headbanging was mesmorising- the hair was flying around like crazy-
though there was a weird guy behind me that kept coughing, and I bought a shirt several sizes to big by accident, but that doesn't matter because it was amazing!
Now I have to go clean... joy..
