Home sweet home
Things are finally settling down at my apartment now that I have everything up on the walls (except a poster I splurged on that hasn't been delivered yet) and I have switched to a much faster internet provider.
Work is going really well............sometimes I think that my brain is still recovering from the massive changes that have occurred in my life because I have been making some silly mistakes here and there, but I don't think it is too big of a deal. All of my co-workers are really helpful and understanding and I hope to hang out with them a lot more. They all seem to like the same things that I do which is fantastic. There is a huge contingent of Office and Harry Potter fans in the children's department (oops, I am supposed to call it young people's services out here) and best of all, one of them is a "Spaced" fan!!!!!!!!! Most people stare blankly at me when I even mention that show, but one of my co-workers loves the show and has yet to see the second season.....which is a perfect reason for us to hang out...........look at me, being all social!!
One of the things that I love about having a real job is that I can't seem to stop reading. I have read nine books in two weeks and it makes me feel so good. I am catching up on all of the big names in Children's Lit that I have missed out on since I was little. My favorite one so far has to be "Skulduggery Pleasant." Great adventure story with very dry humor........I totally have a crush on the main character, who happens to be a skeleton in a suit...........at least he dresses well.
The spider invasion here seems to have come to a standstill...........the three inside my window seem content to remain there, so I have grown rather fond of them......but if they stick one leg onto my side of the window.....BAM! they are history.
Mom and Aunt Pam are coming to see me on Saturday!!!!!! I am so excited.......I have a strange inkling that there might be tears...........I don't know how long they will stay, but it will be so nice just to see them, if even for a little bit.
I got brave today and took a walk around my apartment complex..........I found the pool and the playground.........which are right behind my building, so it is kind of sad that it has taken me this long to find them..........I also realized that I live literally right next to IKEA.........I can see the bright blue building from my parking lot..........I might see if I can walk there, but it involves crossing an interstate, so that might not be a possibility.
My upstairs neighbors are currently watching the Bears game and I can hear it quite clearly from my couch.........I can also tell when something good (or bad) happens because they stomp and yell which gets the dogs barking........it is quite exciting stuff. I will probably paint my nails and then go to bed, which is my usual Sunday night routine.
