Poet party

Last night I went to a fun party at danigarrity's house for her husband's birthday. It's not normal for me to go out on a Tuesday night since once I hit home and change into sweats, forget it: I'm not going anywhere. But I wanted to make an appearance and I ended up staying for about two hours. There was lots of food including many snacky things, and there was good company. Lots of poets, but old school and newer (to me). Patrick was there and when Carol and Ted walked in he said, "It's like ten years ago, but not!" and I said yes, but what I really should have said was, "Twelve years ago." Anyway, it was fun to hang out with people I don't see very often. I haven't gone to any poetry events in a long time because I find that I don't have the desire to sit through people reading poetry. Saying that, I don't mean that all the poetry is awful, but rather that I'm not interested in sitting quietly in a room full of my friends. If I'm going to get together with a bunch of poets then I don't want to have to sit quietly, I want to visit and talk and joke and such.
