Metal and Hopper

So I just watched Anvil: The Story of Anvil, and one of the things that really struck me in the film was a scene where they showed a bunch of paintings that the drummer, Robb Reiner, did. It sounds like he's a pretty good drummer (I confess I don't know any of Anvil's music) but he's also a fantastic painter, in my opinion. The film showed a lot of ( Read more... )

Training is going OK, I guess. I got way off schedule: the first three weeks in December I only went out for one run each week. I went out twice this week and if I'm back on schedule, I'm supposed to do seven miles tomorrow. I'm not sure I have seven miles in me for tomorrow, but I figure maybe I'll run three, walk one, then run three. I'll just have to see how I feel. It's not like there's anything else on my schedule.

I never thought I would get to the point where I'd think as I ran: Gee, it will be nice when this half marathon is over so I can go back to just running three miles a couple of times a week. Like I would look forward to running three miles a couple of times a week...crazy!

How about you?

The Internet: It's Good for Something!

Also, now I feel like I can call Reiner "Robbo" since that's how he referred to himself when he wrote back. Anvil is coming to the Marquee Theater in Tempe on February 2, the same night that I have class and that Lost has its season premiere. I wish there was a way that I could witness all of those things.

Rock on. I still need to see the movie (I have a copy but haven't watched it yet). Did you ask him about buying a painting?

No, I didn't ask about buying one. He mentioned something about getting more showings, so maybe if I write back to him and we strike up a correspondence, I'll bring it up in the future.
