December 19 Car ride. What did you see? How did it smell? Did you eat anything as you drove there? Who were you with?
This is a tough one. 2009 wasn't a big year for road trips, though there were two to California. I did a little driving in Ohio the two times I went back, and I did some driving in the mid-Atlantic in July, and I did some driving in Kentucky/southern Indiana around Bourbon Fest. I think in answer to this question I'll have to choose the trip to Santa Monica in February. It feels sort of wrong for me to choose this one since Al drove, I didn't, and I always prefer to drive on road trips, but it was most interesting because I saw Los Angeles and the surrounding area for the first time since flying to Burbank to go to Six Flags a few years ago. We ate at a truck stop on the west side when we left town that morning, and I don't remember if we stopped elsewhere along the way. It probably smelled like the desert, then like rain because it poured when we got to Los Angeles and Santa Monica.
Runner up is the driving around Kentucky during Bourbon Fest because Kentucky is so pretty. Second runner up is the trip to Delaware because of the rockin' yellow rental car.
