It's fascinating, isn't it, how surprising people can be? Our very own wardens, reduced to...well, I'm sure that you've seen it. Again and again. And yet, they still manage to pull together and call themselves better than us. It's s tragic state of affairs that, once upon a time, in life, we were all equal. Some more than others, but let's not get that technical.

Oh, but it's not all that bad. My job, at home, was making sure that people were happy. That everyone had a chance at happiness. Well, I will extend an opportunity to do the same here. Just a bet. A harmless bet. No one needs to get hurt, so those more...squeamish...types amongst you can cease your fretting. It's a simple question of which warden will fuck up next. Pick a warden. Any warden, as long as they're not taken and they're not your own.

There is a modest prize for the winner, of course. A bottle of alcohol, perhaps two, to the first inmate whose chosen warden screws up. And we can judge that in any way. The first one to harm an inmate. The first one to make a bad enough call that the wardens have to rally to save themselves. Just something big enough to get the attention of the barge.

Let's not be too stringent on it. It's all in good fun.

There are no rules to it. You can use whatever sort of...encouragement...you'd like on your chosen warden. Just don't kill anyone. That's much too easy.

[A pause.] And all of the proven fuckups are off limits. Also too easy.

we are the happiness boys, captains and comrades, i have a soapbox, playing with fire, burn 'em to ashes, fire chief in charge, capitalist dreams
