The week

The week has been kind of me in limbo for the last bit.  Saturday started out with my heading to the Worldwide Dungeons and Dragons games day.  I had been invited to Dungeon Master the new 4.0 system for the day.  I only managed to kill one of the characters.  If my dice had been rolling average results I think I might have even had a totoal party wipe, to my dismay.  The players were fairly new and were not quite savvy of the "gang up on one opponent before moving to the next" strategy.  Thus I maintained my "hearless gamemaster" title.  The system isn't too bad and I think they have managed to balance the characters so there is something for everyone to do each round, unlike the old system of noone was dammaged?  OK healer passes on doing anything this round or his entire round is spent reaching the fallen comrade.

Sunday was taken in toodling around with Joseph and doing some yardwork repoting a plant and the like.

Monday I learned that the K&S Cafeteria is in Raleigh.  How did I not know about this?  I have fond memmories of being at Gaston College when I was in High School and after classes heading over to the Gastonia mall and eating at the K&S there.  The K&S and there was a really good Dairy Queen near the college campus for chicken salad sandwiches.

Teusday flew by without me really remembering anything significant happening.  Wednesday I headed out to the craft circle for the Carolina Roller Girl Zombie Prom.  Much fun and cleaning of bloody hand prints off of doors occured.  Tombstones were assembled.  Yet more blood was splattered.  Next time nowhere near that many goats need be sacrificed.  I am really glad I brought my toolbox as well.  Though I should have thought to bring some superglue to assist with attaching spare arms and legs and heads together.

As for last night, I must admit to regrettably lending out my copies of "An Ideal Husband" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0122541/) and "The Importance of Being Earnest" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0278500/).   I do wish I knew to whom I leant out these wonderful works.  Instead I showed "Lawrence of Arabia" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056172/) and for a second time in as many weeks those in attendance were highly attentive to the show on the screen.  I had not realized, or if I had I had forgotten, that the part of the prince was played by Sir Alec Guiness.  Other notable actors in the film were Peter O'Toole, Anthony Quinn and Omar Schariff.  Next weeks movie night will be "Stardust" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0486655/) and possibly a few episodes of "Neverwhere" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0115288/) or the film "Mirrormask" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0366780/).  My reluctance in showing "Mirrormask" is I think I have presented it too often in the past year or two.  My aversion to "Neverwhere" is the time and annoyance it takes in showing all episodes.
