Time keeps slipping away without me writing about the slips.
Well, first of all, my dad's birthday was the other day. I hadn't gotten him a present and I felt like I should but I couldn't think of ANYTHING. My sister got him stuff and I was like "let me pay you so it can be from both of us" and she was like "think of something." I still couldn't and she was like "Well I was thinking of getting him the CD with 'Don't Worry, Be Happy' on it." My dad used to have the tape of that years ago and he used to listen to it all the time. I couldn't believe I'd never thought about it all this time. I mean, he lost that tape like 10-15 years ago. So yeah, me and my brother decided to buy him that. We go to Best Buy, Circuit City, Wal-Mart, and no fun king luck. We're gone for like two hours and we come empty handed and I don't realize exactly how ponssed I am till we get home. My sister's like "well you could order it and just give him a printout of the thing today and say it's coming in the mail" and I'm like "bump that."
Then I see you can download the song or the album for 88 cents a song from Wal-Mart! So I was like hongl j. yeah, that'll do. So I click the thing and it doesn't work! Argg! Then I see the same deal from Yahoo music. So I go there and it pulls this "You need to download this huge program first." So I start, and it's taking mad long. Then my dad's like "Ok let's open presents" and I'm like "gongd dongmn it, wait. Let's do that after dinner." So he's stalled and the thing is going like 1% ever 5 minutes. Then Teresa IMs me and I'm like "do you have Don't Worry Be Happy?" And she doesn't think so, but then double checks and does. So I am like "sweet" and she starts to send it. It's going fairly slow, but it gets up to like 10% and then she's like maybe I should email it. We cancel and she tries to email it, and her computer funks up. CROMP! So I am waiting for her to restart. It's well after five, and basically my dad either wants to open presents or get ready to go to dinner. I 'm waiting, and I see Jim is on. He's always got music, so I asked him. No luck. But he downloads it and sends it to me. Right when Teresa comes back and emails it. So I thank them both and download the song. I let it go while we go to dinner at Chuck's Steakhouse. I had a New York Strip steak which I never had. Pretty good. My dad had a Porterhouse which I didn't even know was supposed to be basically 2 different steaks in one. No one in my family had ever had it. When we get back, I get the song, and burn it to a CD (just the one, no time for the album). My dad loves it and we listen to it 10 or so times back to back before it goes off.
We had a good game of poker the other night at Whitney's. Parshva and Teresa were there also. We played Texas Hold 'Em and OMAHA Hold em, which really sounds like a joke version of Texas Hold 'Em to me. Basically you get more cards in Omaha, but you can only use 2. Most of the time it just made you upset you can't use all the awesome cards you were dealt, so we invented Norwalk Hold 'Em where you can use any of the four your dealt along with anything community. We ended up getting some TB at one point, discovered Parshva's shirt was the EXACT color of the bed he was sitting on, and Whitney pulled out this strange instrument called the tonette we played around with and played "Karma Chameleon" on.
Zach and Mark F came over a few days ago and we worked on the arrangement I was doing. Still hard to figure out what exactly I'm gonna do with it, but it helped a lot being able to hear the parts simultaneously. Then we jammed to some songs we wrote, made up, and some good old Beatles tunes.
I went to Tod's Point (or Greenwich Point, depending on how hat you are) the other day for a good long walk with the family. Tiki loves going there. I love going there. One of my favorite places. It was a real warm day so it was perfect by the beach and up on the look out tower and cromp. If there's any nice days left before the break ends, any dog owners wanna take a trip with me? It's awesome, for real.
My uncle came over yesterday and I THINK we fixed the doorbell. So hopefully I'll know when people are here now. Something ALMOST went down at my house yesterday. I thought Whit, Parsh, and Teresa were coming over for some Mario Party/chongling, but 8:30 came around and no one was here. So I made some calls to no answer and then I went online. Teresa was apparently just leaving, but Whitney and Parshva kind of just disappeared. An hour or so later Parshva called, but I still don't know what happened. I guess nothing was 100% firmed up in time.
In other news, it's dawned on me that I've gotta rush things along in the next week. I intended to finish my Maximum Carnage script, finish arrangements of both ThunderTank and Peaches En Regalia, finish the rest of the He-Man and ThunderCats DVDS (~50 episodes total), get my hair cut, and make a commercial. Oh, and I wanted to practice some stop motion animation for Maximum Carnage so I can "sell" the idea to would-be supporters at the Field. Cromp!
