Here in Mexico with the flu!

Dec 22, 2004 11:52

The first four days of my trip went smooth, well take that back the first 3.5 days of my trip went smooth. I contracted a paticularly nasty bout of the flu last night, which sucks. I´m much better now in the morning, but not strong to go out and play, which sucks. A quick recap of my trip so far:

Friday: My cold was vanquised and traveled for about 12 hours to where I am today. We left around 7:15 am to go have breakfast with my grandparents. Then we journeyed to LA by car. Finally we actually got to LAX and found out that there was a possiblity that my mom wasn´t going to be able to get on the plane as they overbooked the flight. Fourtuanly, that was not the case and we all were able to get on the plane together! We flew the Mexico city, then transfered to Merida! Both planes left late, which sucked (Mexicans have no concept of actually keeping of being on time it seems). We met Owen at the Airport and he took us to the hotel. Very nice!

Saturday: Sleep deprived! Seriously, Mom and Joe woke us up at 8AM thinking it was 9AM, because the tv said so. The breakfast ends at 10am so they did have good intentions to get us feed, but wayyyyy to early to wake up (it like waking up at 6am in cali because of the time difference). I was grouchy for most of the day because of not getting enough sleep, our hotel is in downtown, next to the poorer parts of the city. That helped me be grouchy to because it wasn´t pleasant seeing such suffering.

Sunday: Finally got a good and complete night sleep! I was able to take the suffering much easier, and have a better time. Its sad and unfourtant how poor a lot of these people are, but what am I to do? We gave money to some of the bums, espically women with children, there are just so many people! Mom and Joe took a bus tour of the city, while Owen and I watched American Football! They said they saw some of the better parts of the city and showed the rich and better off peoples homes.

Monday: Today we rose at around 7:30 am to catch our tour bus, we are off to see the Chichen Itza which is an Mayan Pyramid, It is basically a calander which helped the Mayans tell the date. It was facinating, there were other things to like a sport court that the Mayans used to play this one game that I forget the name of, but it was a ball game kinda like soccer and basketball wrapped in one. The scary part is the winner of the game would be beheaded! At least according to our Guide! We stayed at a cool
luxury hotel!

Tuesday: Tuesday was cool, went swimming in a sink hole! I will write about that later, like when I get back. But the biggest part of the day was coming back to my original hotel in Merida and getting the flu! Grrrrrrrr Oh well,

Today: Just restin!
