Stuff.

The other day wayferny brought SAM and DAT some lollipops with mealworms in them, and a chocolate-covered grasshopper and mealworm. Once we told SAM that he was indeed allowed to eat the lollipop with a bug in it, he declared that he was a frog. He ate the mealworm first - apparently it was the most delicious part of the lollipop. :) He also liked the chocolate-coated ones. He was kind enough to share, but I found them all rather tasteless, like eating shrimp shells. :)

Our farmer's market has opened back up, yay. We went to the first one last Friday, and I got some Solomon's Seal. Now I just have to get it planted. I'm almost catching up with my gardening. I'm glad to be allowed to dig and lift stuff again. We dug a garden bed for SAM this afternoon (after a long trip to the zoo - I got about four times my normal amount of exercise today, and still did my 30 minutes on Wii Fit, go me), but I still need to dig one more new bed. Maybe I can get it done tomorrow, then I'll be able to plant my seeds that have been waiting for months.

Putting up insulation in the garage. I think it helped the huge heating bill a bit (but not as much as turning everything off most of March did...) We need to find something better than duct tape, though - you would think that would be the best thing to use on ducts, but it's slowly coming loose...

After Christmas, we took down SAM's old toddler bed, since he was sleeping well in his big bed. He helped take it apart.

Our rental house for the ski trip in Maggie Valley had a nice rushing mountain stream in the backyard. SAM found a snow shovel, and since there was no snow at that elevation, he decided to shovel the stream instead. :)

There was also a little bridge, complete with troll.

So much fun visiting with Uncle Phoeclipse, who needs skiing...

Still, couldn't miss the cuteness of the tiny skis.

Phoeclipse tried skiboarding!

You should check out the video right after that photo on flickr (dunno how to post videos and pictures in the same post...) to compare learner skiing with learner snowboarding. Heh. But if you do, forgive my poor camera-video skills. :)

There were better pictures on aveareya's flickr, back when. :) And here's a parting one of the very tired boy. He was so un-wake-up-able that people wondered if he was okay. But he had fun.

On the way out I went "skydiving" over a big fan. It was awesome, if chilly. :)

We went up to Gatlinburg later in the week, since my dad didn't make the first ski trip. We found that having SAM hang onto a pole doesn't work well.

This is how it's done. I even have videos of it on flickr - and a video of SAM going all by himself!

SAM fell over and declared that he was a snow baby. He stayed there for a while.

His skills improved so amazingly fast - his first day skiing he could hardly stand up alone, and by the end of his second day, he could keep his balance fairly consistently all on his own! (And I got lots of practice skiing backwards, which I didn't even know I could do.)
