University Heights Parrots!

May 04, 2008 01:09

Yesterday, Ash and I were walking down the street to get some dinner; we ended up in University Heights, on Park Ave (we ended up going to the newly-found-by-us Parkhouse Eatery - yums) when we saw a strange sight - parrots. We heard them first, Ash was half-joking that a small child was stuck in a tree somewhere, when suddenly we looked up and there was a parrot! Holy Crap!

It's very weird to see a parrot in the wild, this is just something that doesn't happen - especially in San Diego, AFAIK. But, there it was. We heard a similar yell from behind us and turned around just in time to see a flock (5-6) of parrots(!) fly over our heads, then "our" parrot took off and followed them. Awed, we followed, and watched them settle on some telephone wires. We watched them for a few minutes, because they're awesome, snapped some bad-quality images with our iPhones (at least we had something!) and then went to dinner. It was pretty cool.

Here are some (cropped for size) images of the parrots, just to prove it:

Parrots!

More Parrots! (really the same ones)

(surprisingly similar pictures, hadn't noticed until I cropped them down to just the parrots, oh well)
