Danny's not a fan of lying about things -- sure, he may obfuscate and avoid the whole truth, but he likes to be honest. Honesty means admitting that ever since the snows fell and London blanketed the city (ever since his entire wardrobe got stolen from him), he's been practically giddy. Sure, it might not let up by the wedding, but he constantly ( Read more... )

It's more than Lexie knows what to do with, really, the sudden shift in, well, everything. Usually she can deal with these things. Last winter, when it was snow, she was just fine. Now, though, it's the entire landscape, the clothes, and more notably, the OR, which now looks like a picture from a textbook or something. With their medical supplies, she's not too worried, but it's a concern all the same, especially when things seem to be a lot more dangerous now, between carriages and bicycles and freezing temperatures and cobblestone streets.

And God, these clothes, she hardly knows what to do with, though there's at least something fun in dressing up to fit the mood that's been foisted upon them. Maybe she feels entirely out of place, but there's no harm in pretending. Now, on her way to look for more - she can't just use the same articles of clothing, she might as well go all out with this - she pauses in the doorway when she spots Danny, grinning. "A top hat? Really?"

"Considering I practically feel like one of my ex-wife's dirty, naughty, secret fantasies right about now, I definitely need to spring for the top-hat, too," Danny confirms with a big grin on his face, stepping back to press the heel of his foot to the arch of the other, performing a fluid and graceful bow until his bad knee twinges and he pulls a face. "Though, the goddamn snow is killing my ACL."

Lexie winces at that, sympathetic, though it doesn't keep her from dipping into a slight curtsy, skirts held up with one hand. She remembers his having mentioned a bad knee before, though it wouldn't have occurred to her before now the effect the weather might have on something like that. "Well, let me know if there's anything I can do, you know, in a professional capacity," she says. "In the meantime, let's find you that top hat."

"Well, seeing as I can actually afford the surgery, it figures that there's no actual tools here that I need if I want a new knee," he jokes, looking at the skirts she's wearing and shaking his head. "Okay, babe, don't get offended, but you look incredible. Seriously. The whole ankles-up fashion really works for you."

"Please, like I could ever get offended by a compliment," Lexie laughs, glancing down at the clothes she's wearing self-consciously, though she doesn't try to hide her smile. Mostly she feels ridiculous like this, so it's actually nice to hear. "Thank you. Just for that, if we ever do get the tools for it, I promise to scrub in on the procedure."

"I'd request you," he insists with a big smirk on his face, searching through the box. "I may need your help to come tie down Steve at some point. I'm pretty sure he's willfully ignoring the fact that if he doesn't wear a suit, he's not leaving the house. And I think he's starting to actually consider that a possibility."

"Oh, we can't let that happen," Lexie says quickly, casting Danny a too-serious look. If nothing else, the island really shouldn't be deprived of the chance to see Steve all decked out like that, but fairly certain that shouldn't be her first argument, she keeps it to herself for the time being. "If nothing else, he's a public official, he'll have to go out eventually."

"Plus, you know, at some point this month, I would appreciate if he left the home to get hitched," Danny points out, trying not to think about things like how close it is and how he's not exactly sure what to do about it, with the snow falling so constantly and the cold chill in the air.

"Yeah, what are you guys going to do about that?" Lexie asks, head tilting to the side. A change in locale as drastic as this, not to mention the weather, there's no way it hasn't altered their plans. She just hopes it hasn't interfered too much. "There's - if you can get Steve outside, anyway - probably a hall or something you can use?"

Danny shrugs his shoulders, trying not to think too hard about the definitive wrinkle in their plans that this snow's become. "I don't know, I really have no clue, and I keep thinking. Well, I keep thinking, how much would everyone in our lives hate us if I pulled a runaway bride thing," he says.

"Well, is it a runaway bride thing if you decide to reschedule it and tell everyone that?" Lexie asks, less to encourage it and more just to entertain the hypothetical. There's a part of her that thinks a Victorian wedding would be unbelievably romantic, a once in a lifetime type opportunity, but if they can't get Steve to leave the house, then resorting to something else might become necessary. "I don't think everyone would hate you, anyway. I wouldn't hate you."

"Yes, but I've been training you," he informs her with a knowing look, smirking as he digs out a hat -- which is less top and more 'flat' -- and lifts a brow with a delighted look on his face. "It's all the stray cookies and letting you spy on Steve when he's shirtless, isn't it?"

"Oh, totally, you've figured me out," Lexie laughs, nodding as her own smile broadens in turn. It really isn't, but neither cookies nor shirtless Steve is anything she would ever complain about. "That's not quite a top hat, is it? Should we keep looking?"

"It's definitely not top near-enough," Danny agrees with a forlorn shake of his head, as if pitying the state of top hats these days. It's like they just don't know how to do it right. "So? What's your opinion on the weather? Seems like you either love it or hate it."

"I'm not really sure, actually," Lexie says, thoughtful, mouth pulling to one side. "I mean, it's weird, right? The way everything changed like this. And God, you should see the clinic and the OR, they're completely different. But I definitely don't mind the cold weather, and it's kind of fun, you know? Dressing up like this."

"Okay, allow me a panicked question. If I, say, got hurt and needed surgery in the next while..." Danny trails off, a desperately fearful look on his face considering he doesn't even want to begin thinking about what ancient and horrifying techniques would be used on him.
