Eddie Ayau has been released from jail. FINALLY!!!
"Edward Halealoha Ayau, executive director of Hui Malama I Na Kupuna O Hawai'i Nei, has been ordered released from the federal detention center and into home confinement on Moloka'i following an appearance in court this morning.
The order came during a status conference on the progress toward mediation in a dispute about the disposition of 83 Native Hawaiian artifacts.
Ayau has been held at the detention center near Honolulu International Airport since Dec. 27 for not complying with a federal order to divulge the exact location of the artifacts.
He will be allowed off Moloka'i to attend the mediation process meetings.
Two mediators also were selected at the status conference."

http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/article/2006/Jan/17/br/br04p.html When America puts a man or a woman in jail for exercising their rights... especially their right to remain silent... is an embarassment to all Americans and yes... I am a citizen of the U.S. as well as of the Kingdom of Hawaii so when I found out that Eddie Ayau was put in jail... it was embarassing to Americans. Fortunately they have released him but he should never have been in jail in the first place.
Anyway he is finally out of jail. The question is... IS HE FREE?
Is he free to exercise his rights? Also... are HAWAIIANS free to exercise their rights? In addition... if Hawaiians are not free then that means that AMERICANS are not free either. Well we shall see.
