I love this video essay! by Duke McAdow
This one covers a video essay and shows some Hawaiians and non-Hawaiians protesting the Ninth Circuit Court in California. Of course I love it when people fight for their rights and this one is especially cool because it covers Hawaiians which is very rare. It's about eight minutes long and shows how Hawaiians protest the status quo which I fully support.
A brief review:
1. Nainoa Thompson, a trustee of the Kamehameha Schools, also touches upon "conversion" without using the word as the personal property of Bernice Pauahi Bishop is being used without her consent which is illegal.
2. Kelii Brown, an alumnus of the Kamehameha Schools, describes "naau" and implies that it's not a good feeling to our guts that some people are still taking from Hawaiians.
3. A war chant (well to me it's a war chant) asking for people to unite for a single purpose because there is a war against Hawaiians. Therefore asking us to fight back together.
4. CEO Dee Jay Mailer who is a Kamehameha Schools alumna addresses the crowd explaining the impact on Hawaiian children.
Ending with "We're still here."
