To start, I just finished watching the Tekken movie (not a bootleg, but a pretty quality picture). I have to admit, it could've been a lot worse. Was it great? Far from it (it WAS a video game adaptation, and we know those have a shitty rep), but it wound up better than expected. I hated the fact King (my favorite character) wasn't in it, but can't get all we want. In addition, Kelly Overton looks NOTHING like Christie Monteiro, but I will admit, she looks damn hot in the movie, so I can overlook it some. Lots of inaccuracies, and the actors weren't that great. Until someone comes along to trump Linden Ashby's Johnny Cage, his is the best acted performance in a video game movie.
So, that's all for the movie. I'm currently trying to figure what I'll be doing for cosplay next year. My goal is to keep them as simple as possible because, as everyone knows, my skills are limited. Still, I've been thinking about what I should put together for Comic-Con, and I think these are what I have in mind:
Well, truth is, I did finish Batman, but he needs modification. I need to re-do the shirt and cowl, tighten up the pants, but on new blades for the gloves, and make a new utility belt. Still, I want to do Batman again for Comic-Con. I'm also doing Dr. McNinja because, well, it's simple, easy to wear, and comfy. Oh, and it's a comic convention.
Now, this has potential:
I want to do Doug Boutabi from a Night at the Roxbury. I don't know why I want to, I just feel like it. FYI, Doug is Chris Kattan's character.
I also think I should put up my big projects (about 2-3 years down the road)
This is a character from a D&D trilogy set in a world called Eberron (the world itself only came out in '04). This particular character is named Diran Bastiaan, an ex-assassin who eventually found redemption as a priest of a religious order called the Church of the Silver Flame (an order that bears some similarities with the Catholic Church, if you need a parallel). He now uses his assassin's skills as a way of making up for his past. He owns about a dozen-plus daggers of differing material, all contained within pockets sewn into his cloak, and he's practically a surgeon with them. So yeah, that's one, but the big one:
King from Tekken 6. This outfit is pimpin', and yet simple in its look. There's an insignia on the back which will be tough to make, and the mask is a whole other story because, as far as I know, there's no info on making animal masks, let alone a jaguar mask, so I need to fish around.
Of course, this is all assuming I can get a pass for Comic-Con. It seems all the passes of four days plus preview night are gone, and the four day ones are limited, so when they come up, I need to haul ass.
