I'm back~~~!

We got back Wednesday night, but I just haven't updated yet. I should be doing school right now but I'm having MAD writer's block/can't-get-motivated-itis. So I'll take a quick break to clear my mind.

Okay, now about the trip.

Mom, MK, and I drove up to Chattanooga on Friday night so we just basically went to sleep when we got there. Next morning, we drove about 8 hours to Destin. I looovveee long car trips so I enjoyed this immensely. I played a lot of Pokemon Diamond too. XD

The hotel room was nice, but there were some problems such as a broken decor mirror and the shower door in the Master bath coming off randomly. XD It had a very nice balcony so I got to admire the ocean whenever I wanted! Hooray!

We spent about an hour out on the beach on Saturday. The water was sooo pretty and clean! I was extremely surprised and amazed as I've never seen ocean water that clear before. MK and I had fun playin' the waves. >w< Then we went to a sub par dinner at the supposedly amazing hotel restaurant. *shrugs* MK's dish was really delicious though.

Sunday was... More beach, more Pokemon. We went to the worst place for food EVER that night- this supposedly good seafood buffet called Captain Kidds. Ugh. It was both disgusting and horrifically expensive. 25 bucks per person- AND it was unclean and had a small selection of poor food to boot. Then we came home and all sat around talking in the family room.

Extended periods of discussion with Grandma Donna always lead to trouble.

MK brought up this kid from her math tutor place named Carlos, who is akin to Jeffery Star of internet fame in fashion taste. This caused Grandma Donna to get up on her little platform of Conservatism. According to her, Carlos had "severe problems" and society is degenerating because we aren't following the "gender roles set up by God". I was barely containing myself and Mom was just like "... o_o;; *KEEPING QUIET*" To get out of the conversation, I went to bed- and cried myself to sleep to "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" sung by George Michael and Elton John. (Very beautiful duet. Better than the original.) She is such a fucking hypocrite. If those "gender roles set up by God" are so god damn important, you're breaking them. If you truly followed them, you wouldn't be in the work force like you are, neither you nor my mother would've gone to college, me and MK shouldn't be in school, instead of being on vacation we should all be back at our respective houses- not to mention that I should probably be married by now with at least one child, and we should have NO say in what happens in our lives. Fuck you Grandma Donna. You were doing pretty good about not being a sheer bitch until that.

In short, NOT a good night.

More beach on Monday. That night we went to Outback Steakhouse and had the best meal yet- not to mention the CHEAPEST. ><

The last day was spent playing Pokemon for me and MK. It was cloudy out so I didn't want to go to the beach. Mom, naturally, spent the day out though. That was a surprisingly good day despite the lack of activity. That night we went to Cracker Barrel and had the best and least expensive meal of the trip. XD We then packed up and prepared to leave the next morning.

Early in the morning, Mom woke up me and MK for one last walk on the beach. It was very, very pleasant. Almost no people, cool temps, calm water, and a good last good bye to the ocean. At one point in the walk though, somethin' funny happened.

So, we're about knee deep in water, walking along, when Mom goes "Oh look! A ray!" and points behind us about 10-15 feet away. I stare at it for a few moments and go "...That's not a ray. That's a jellyfish. O_O" And dash out of the water. Mom remains and examines it more. "No no! It's a ray! There's it's tail, see?"

"No mom. That's a jellyfish. Ray's are not brown and bright yellow. Jelly fish in this area are brown and jellyfish can have one bright colored tentacle and abuncha clear ones."

"Whatever. It's a ray." We walk off.

Later, on our way back, we stop to look at it again. It's come closer to shore now, but we remain the same distance. Once again, we debate it's nature. Finally, Mom goes "You're right! It is a jellyfish! I can see the shape and how it's moving in the water!"

"See I told you- ..." I pause. I squint. "Mom. That's not a jellyfish. That's a bucket."

Cue laughter. It was a child's yellow sand pail with the handle broken off on one end. The way the water and the light and shadows were distorting it made it look like it was flexing and dark brown. We christened the "creature" the Chinese Bucketjelly- a beast capable of swallowing men whole by stretching it's body and digesting them slowly like a Venus Flytrap. Many lulz were had.

We went back, showered, and drove home. I read Les Mis and played Pokemon the whole way back.

Overall, it was a good trip. The hotel and food could've been better, and I could've EASILY gone without Grandma Donna's psychotic driving, Christian soapbox incident, and nagging on everybody else. But going to the beach again was nice since I haven't been in like, 4 years probably. It was relaxing and I had a good time. I kinda regret it because I lost a week to work on school, but I feel refreshed after it and I think it'll help me focus.

Drew's in the process of moving back in. Good bye, C15. I knew ye well and had many a rockin' excellent time within ye. *salutes* He will be very helpful on History though... *cackles* Plus, I mean, it's Drew. Gotta love 'im.

Well, that's about all I got. I suppose I should drift on back to school. Peace y'all.

awesome, pokemon, drew, beach, vacation, grandma donna, c15, lulz, destin, school, les mis, chinese bucketjelly
