So. Yeah. My Gmail is... pretty gosh darn full. Midterms are now over with, which can only be a good thing. I've also discovered the eldritch abomination of fanfic, which is perhaps less so, as now I have a dramatic reading of it playing while I try to write essays, and there's only so many times you can hear the word fuckfire without wanting to use it at every available opportunity.

I watched the first two episodes of the second season of Stargate: Universe. I can understand why people call it Failgate. It's not just bleak, it's stupid about it. Also, are the writers unaware the POWs are general enemy soldiers who've taken a shot or two at your side, or are we just supposed to think that Mr. Leader Man is unaware? What happened to the snarky show of my childhood, damn it?

I also had the opportunity to watch They Live! which was sarcastic and transparent and really rather enjoyable. I also went to go watch Guardians of Ga'Hool, which was a big long string of cliches held together with the fact that the movie had some fantastic directing, and the gimmick of all the characters being owls. Of course, expressing this opinion resulting in my being told that I've spent too much time on TV Tropes. Which, when you get right down to it, is sort of prerequisite for knowing about that site.

I also saw a trailer for Steampunk!Nutcracker

I'll be honest; I'm easy when it comes to punk-flavored retelling of classic tales. Tin Man? Hell yes, I'll watch that again in a second. Alice? For all that the writing wasn't as tight as Tin Man, was still a lot of fun. And Andrew Lee-Potts isn't exactly hard on the eyes either. So, steampunk retelling of Nutcracker on a feature film budget? I'm excited.
