I should learn to trust my instincts

I really should learn to trust my instincts.

The Alamo Drafthouse has been advertising that they were going to have a free screening of Star Trek Wrath of Khan and they would show a few minutes of footage from the new Trek movie along with it.

Yesterday they mentioned that Fantasticfest badge holders could reserve tickets for it and that there would be no cell phones allowed so don't even bring them because you would have to walk back to your car.

Of course this made my spidey senses tingle.  I was guessing that this was actually a disguised advance screening of the new Trek film aimed at finding out what actual Trek fans think of the movie and I even sent Haleigh a message saying that exact thing  They had said there would be walk up seats available but we ended up not going down to check it out.  Back when Kevin Smith had come to town to host a screening of "House Party" I had thought he was going to show his new movie and I had been wrong so doubts had overcome me and we decided not to chance it.

Well I got an email this morning from someone who did go.

I was absolutely right.  Not only did they show the new Star Trek movie but three of the writers and Leonard Nimoy were in attendance!  If it weren't bad enough that I missed seeing Spock himelf, one of the writers of Trek was Damon Lindelhoff!  For those of you that don't recognize the name right off, he is one of the two main writers for the tv show "Lost" which is by far my favorite show on tv right now.  I follow his podcast and he is one of my favorite writers in the business.  People were dissapointed that JJ Abrams didn't show up but to me Lindelhoff is far cooler than Abrams.

I guess I will know in the future to trust my instincts when it comes to Drafthouse stuff.
