Cell Phone Pictures

I have my interview with the University Of Minnesota coming up in a couple of hours so I thought I could do a quick update of what I've been doing in my free time here.

Lately I have been taking pictures with phone.  It is a lot easier to wander around with out a big clunky SLR camera because no one stops to stare, it is easier to climb fences, and people do not ask me where I'm going or what I am taking pictures of.   These pictures were taken over the  past few weekends while I was walking around south of the university.

Here are some flowers.  The purple and red ones are planted by the city and the yellow ones are planted by some farmers.

This one is taken towards the university from the mountains to the southwest of campus.  The school is tough to make out but it is the white buildings centered in the frame.

This one is looking over the farms and factories on the south side of the mountain.

This is me just so that I can show you that I was actually there.  Climbing the mountain was pretty difficult because it was overgrown with scrub.  It was nearly impassable with out a machete. I was only 1/2 way up when I took the picture and by the time I turned around 2/3 of the way to the top my hands and face had been all scratched up by the thorns.

2/3 up the mountain I encountered 3 old women. I have no idea how they got up the mountain but they were there picking young pine cones.  They told me how good the pine cones taste and then asked me why I was climbing the mountain that way.  They then pointed out that there was a path up the mountain just a 100 yards to the north.  So I climbed back down the mountain and took the path up and over the mountain.  Here is the shot of the west side of the mountain and Lake Tai (太湖).
