This really happend a long time ago

While I was in China last semester I was unable to get to an update my LJ.  And I have actually done things and took lots of pictures.  But I really wasn't intending to update and then I changed my mind today.  So what this is, is a series of 6 picture posts with captions and I don't know how many there are yet because there are more than 3 and I have not quite looked at and uploaded all my pictures.

So things were pretty normal in Shenyang until the end of April.  Before that we had a big snowstorm (several feet of snow) and my drunken birthday party and class.  Most people in China have a holiday the first week of May.  I was a little special because I did not have class the few days before the holiday started so I had some extra time off.  So I decided to travel for my holiday and beat the rush by leaving a few days early.  I took this picture standing outside the east gate of my school waiting for the travel agent to pick me up and take me to the airport.  At about 2pm I would be getting on a flight for Nanjing.

I got to Nanjing ok and found a shuttle bus that took me into town from the airport and eventually found my hotel.  A nice thing about traveling alone is that you can get lost and it doesn't matter when you get someplace cause no one is getting pissed off about the fact that you are lost.  I got to my hotel and explored for while that night then the next morning I took a taxi to the train station to buy a ticket to Shanghai.  That process was pretty painless because there were so many trains per day between these two cities.  I took this picture standing outside the train station.

It is me standing near the lake opposite the train station.  It is a bit of a tourist spot.  Lots of people wanted to take pictures here.  From here I attempted to walk to Purple Mountain I could see it off in the distance.

I walked along the lake towards the mountain and after about half an hour I saw these guys fishing.  It was pretty neat but I didn't see anyone catch anything.

Eventually I got to here.  It was really close to the mountain but by this time of day it was starting to get hot.  I don't worry about time too much so I have no idea when I actually got to this house.  I left the train station about 7:30 or 8 in the morning and I got here and I was sweating maybe an hour or 2 later.  But by this time I figured I would actually never figure out how to get on to the mountain so I broke down and hailed a cab (which is an incredibly hard thing to do in Nanjing).

This is a map of where I eventually ended up.  After trying to walk half way around the lake and a short taxi ride later.
