I wish I could be more coherent, but this is just bloody fantastic. The POVs are so in character, especially John, who makes me want to cry. And now he sees Mary in Robert's eyes.
John was so, so hard. Ohhh my god. Because we don't really know what he was like back then, you know? So it was hard to figure out how to make him ... still work with what we know of in canon, but so much younger and more vulnerable. Thank you so much, dude!
What’s irritating is how he can’t stop thinking about it, that he turns to talk to Jimmy and his brain stutters out queer, full stop, no thought or malice behind it, just ... the fact of it.
Thank you - I think I had a few discussions about how John would react to it, being a man from Kansas and possibly not well educated, but having it be that way just felt right to me. I'm really glad that it worked for you, thank you!
“Go beat off,” Jimmy says, without looking up from his notebook. John snorts. Robert’s eyes flicker over to him and then away, wide as if he was shocked that John laughed.
I'm so in love with the dynamics of this, the way Sam and Dean slip in and out of treating John like their father. the idea of Dean teaching John how to fight makes me giddy like I can't even describe. plus, all of the voices are really just pitch-perfect. ♥
Heehee, thank you! The dynamics were really fun to play with - they're such awesome characters, you know? But I'm really glad you enjoyed it - thank you for reading!
This is just fabulous! All the characters are right on. I don't really know what to say- it was so amazing and I just want to go read the next chapter! :D

This is exactly how I think John would see it.
