The EDGE Academy: The Story Within Prologue
Author’s Note: I wrote this one a few months ago but never had the chance to post it. So i'm posting it now. But the prologue is a bit boring, so brace yourself.
PROLOGUE
Welcome to the EDGE Academy.
We are equal. We are united. We are one. We are EDGE student.
E stand for Excellency because we expect you to excel in your academic.
D stand for the Determination because only with determination, you can succeed in this academy.
G stand for Grace because all of you will learn the art of elegance.
E stand for Equity because each one of you is equal, no matter what your origin is.

EDGE Academy is one of the most prestigious private high schools in Japan. Not only the students who studies there are smart and brilliant but they’re also excel in sport. Beside that, most of the students that study there come from the rich and elite family. Those who come for the normal family usually got a full scholarship to study there. And there also a fact that it’s quite hard to get into this academy because this academy only selects a really brilliant student to enter the academy.
This is why many parents want their children to enter this academy. Not only is it one of the best schools, it also going to ensure the children to have a good future.
Every year, EDGE Academy (EA) only takes 60 new students to maintain its quality. For the academy, the quantity of the students does not matter as long as they can maintain their reputation in producing a quality graduate. Beside that, this academy applies the latest technologies in their teaching and they’re also providing the latest and up to date equipment for the students whether for their classes or their dorms.
Since the EA is a private school, its entire student has to stay in dorms. This is to ensure that all students will have a good relationship with each other. It is also to build up independency in the students. Each one of them will be train to be independent, confident with oneself and also to build up a good relationship between them.
There are four dorms in the EA. The EA building is situated at the center of these dorms. The dorm at the north of the EA building is called The Amethyst. The founder of the EDGE Academy loved gemstones very much which is why all dorms in the EA are named after he’s favorite gemstones. The Amethyst building is decorated in light purple. At the south of the EA is called The Ruby. The building is in red. While the dorm at the west is called The Sapphire which is color in light blue and lastly, at the east of EA building is The Emerald that is in green.
Each dorm has 30 rooms. 15 of the room are for the senior, a single person rooms while the other 15 rooms are for the junior and sophomore. Each room has its own bathroom. Each dorm has a common room where the students can gather and have a meeting or just mingling with each other. Then, there are also wash rooms where they can wash and dry their cloth. In each wash room, there are 2 washing machine and 2 drying machine. There is also a café where the students can eat for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The menu of the café is different everyday and each dorm has its own menu.
Each dorm also will have a head dorm. The head dorm will be chosen based on their ability to lead and also their academic result. Usually the head dorm will be choose before the end of the semester so that the they can prepared the schedule for their dorm activities for the next school year. Each dorm also has their own uniform color which is the same color as their dorm’s name. The students from The Emerald will wear green; from The Ruby will wear red, The Sapphire will wear blue and from The Amethyst will wear purple. The only common thing between them is the design of the uniform and the badge of the EGDE Academy that is on the left side of their uniform.
Since it is a high school, the Academy has only 3 levels and there only 3 classes each year. Each class will have only 20 students in it. This is to give a better environment for the student to learn and study. It also makes it easier for the student to focus on their learning. Beside it also help to strengthen the relationship between the students and the teachers.
There are also different names to each year. The first year classes are called Crystal. This is because they are still fresh and clear, just waiting to be filled with knowledge. Then, the 2nd year classes are called Pearl. This shows that the students have begin to shine. And lastly, the senior or the third year students are called Diamond. This is because they are ready to face the world and know how to use the knowledge that they’re gain wisely. There are also beginning to be recognized by the top university. This shows that they’re already shining like a diamond.
This is the story of one student of the EDGE Academy. Ueda Tatsuya is very smart but a nerd. He is in the student council and in The Sapphire dorm. And this is his story.
