i needed to make this another entry because he does not deserve to have happy things in the same entry.
i got an email from pat henry thanking us for our present for him. an excerpt:
"Something else was required of me." It was to discuss these books with you
over the last four months. As a result of having done so, I am much more
hopeful about our collective future. It's good to know that there are young
people like you in the world.

that email made me tear up. i will miss seeing him every week.
i'm actually getting excited about christmas. i was not happy about not being home (for the first time in my life) and being at my aunt's on long island, where i usually hate to be. but i just talked to my mom on the phone and i think it will be very good. i enjoy my cousins sometimes, and i enjoy christmas all the time. and i can still have my bagels and lox. and i will be with mikey. and my sister will be in DC beforehand. and we'll go to the city and see a broadway show and do other fun city things, like perhaps ice skate in rockefeller center and eat a hot dog. ahhhh, hot dogs. i mean, i'm a vegetarian....
