So I get you guys REALLY like Open Office. But now who's right? Can OO create .doc files or no? What about .xls files? And then my original question, does anyone know about the value of Frontpage, Powerpoint, and Access?

I just verified, it can save .doc in Word 97, 2000, XP, 95 and 6.0 formats. What's .xls?

.xls files are Excel files. OO can create them.

Frontpage is useless for everyone; there is no reason for it to exist. I dislike PowerPoint, but some corporate types be diggin on it. I cannot conceive of you needing Access.

fair enough. Thank you gentlemen. Now I need to figure out the best way to mar my computer.

Is resetting my computer a magical fix-all button? If I do have worms and viruses and trojans and the like, will resetting make them go away, or will they still be there, like some sort of evil now embedded in the very essence of my computer?

If you do a fresh install by booting directly from a Windows CD or DVD, making sure that you reformat the hard drive during the installation process, you shouldn't have any worms/viruses/trojans on the hard drive afterwards.
