Who on God's green earth made it a rule that to be a politician you have to be a lawyer first. Ignorant people assume that lawyers know and understand the representative branch of government just because they went to law school and try cases. A lawyer might know the court system and might know the law but he doesn't know how to draw up and ratify a good law or bill that will benefit 'everyman.' Everyman is you and I, everyman is your cousins and neighbors. I for one would rather have someone who believes in the law and in what it stands for be elected than have someone who wants to get around the law or manipulate it to get their own way, and their own way is putting dollar bills in their own pocket.
