I was playing with a four-year-old girl recently, and she has now provided me with my favorite explanation for other children who claim they need a band-aid (this was a surprisingly frequent occurrence when I was a camp counselor). She was telling me about how she had fallen down at school, and said, "I got a booboo, but I didn't need a band-aid because my body makes it's own band-aid. It's called a scab."
Smart parents there - found an excellent way to reason at her level.
