Today's the last day of November, and I'm determined to get the posts about Evan's birthday and Brooklyn's blessing done before it's actually December, so here we go. I'm just going to combine the two b/c they were about the same time. Hopefully, they won't resent me one day when they realize they didn't get their own entries. :)
We were really lucky to have family come for Brooklyn's blessing. My parents came and stayed for a week, and Andrew's parents came for that weekend. She was blessed on November 1st. A friend of mine wrote down the blessing for me. I thought that was really sweet. I don't have that with any of the others. Here are some pictures from that day.
I'm not sure I'm supposed to be taking pictures in the chapel, but this face was killing me.
Isn't that double chin the best?
Here's our family on blessing day. Ain't we cute?
I really wanted pics with the grandparents, too, but Andrew's dad hadn't been feeling well. They were there! I promise!
Me and my Brookie Wookie. (Evan came up with that nickname. She's not hairy.)
She looks so different already, and it's only been a month.
I took this one in the hallway, and I think she looks so sweet.
The blessing gown was one my step-mom made for Lauren. I love that she made it. It makes it special.
Speaking of my step-mom, I took this sweet picture in Relief Society.
I love that she loves my kids. They love her, too.
We also had Evan's birthday party that same day since family was in town. I've told my kids that we're only doing big parties on big birthdays (5, 8, 12, 16, 18), so it was just a small thing with family. I hope Evan enjoyed it. I know it wasn't as elaborate as the year before, but I want my kids to be able to enjoy their birthdays without all the frills.
Anyway, he had Papa and Granna Pettus, Papa and Grandma Brown, Aunt Sarah and her kids, and my brother Joshua's family there. Not too shabby.
My Evan is 9 years old now. It's so weird to think about. He's almost in the double digits. So close to the teenage years which terrifies me. Teenagers scare me. haha He is such a sweet boy. Yes, he loves to drive his sister and mommy crazy, but he's also thoughtful. He can tell when I'm having a bad day, and he tries his best to make it better for me. He is so sweet with Brooklyn. He loves her so much and wants to hold her all the time. Even though he teases her all the time, he also looks out for Lauren and helps her with so many things. He refers to Owen as his little buddy, and he reads him a book every night before bed since they share a room. He's so smart. Smarter than me sometimes. I love that goober so much.
So here's some pics from his party and then on his actual birthday when we went to Chili's.
Here's the birthday boy with his cake.
He was really into that Minish Cap game and asked me to put the cap on the cake. I'm pretty sure this was the first ever Zelda Minish cap cake. haha
Here he is with his presents.
He love science in case you were wondering. He also got some money from his grandparents. Lucky fella. And, Anna, you're looking good there in the background.
He will probably kill me one day for this, but I love this picture.
It's the perfect Evan face. haha
Andrew and Evan worked on one of the inventions from his present.
I think this was the motorized fan.
And then they built a radio.
It was really cute seeing them work together.
Here's Evan with his Papa Brown.
He calls Evan "Ebenezer Alouicious." I guess that's how you spell it. He's called him that since he was little. :)
Oh! I forgot. I sent surprise cookies in Evan's backpack to share with his class. His teacher sent me this picture.
I've been going up there on their birthdays, but with two little ones at home, it was kinda difficult. I think the surprise cookies worked out pretty well.
And all the kid asked for on his birthday was a bag of his very own Takis.
How could I say no when I get a reaction like this? Happiest kid in the world!
Then, we went to Chili's where he got a free kids meal and then they sang him happy birthday, and he got free ice cream.
Yay for free ice cream!
So there we go! Evan is 9 and Brooklyn is blessed. She's 2 months old tomorrow, by the way.
Only one hour until it's no longer November. I finished with time to spare! :D
