Christmas Musings

I watched the First Presidency Christmas Devotional tonight. They showed some clips from videos they're making about the Life of Christ. They were so beautiful. You can watch them by clicking here ---> The Life of Christ Bible Videos

Those videos really got me to thinking about Christ's life and specifically his life before his ministry. He started his ministry at age 30. I'm 27, and I thought about all the things I've already done in my life, and the only things we know about Jesus before he turned 30 is that he was born, he taught in a temple, and he was a carpenter. What about all those years in between? I'm married and have 2 children. Did he start a family? What talents did he develop? Did he go to school? Was he picked on? How did his pre-ministry life shape him into the man he was during his ministry? I know he was perfect, so how did that affect his relationship with others growing up?

I don't know if it's weird for me to think about this, but in a way it makes me love the Savior more. I wish there were more information about him during that stage in his life. I guess the writers of the Bible didn't think it was too important, but being the book nerd that I am, I love some good character development. :)

I love seeing the tiny baby Jesus in that video. How marvelous that the Savior of the world started out as a little baby just like you and me. He had to be cared for. He had to be taught. What an amazing thing.

I love Christmas.
