Happy Mardi Gras!
So, in the short amount of time we lived in Louisiana, I discovered the wonders of King Cake. It's really good when made by the right people. Since we've moved away, I haven't been able to have it. My step-mom bought me some once in a sweet gesture from a bakery, but, alas, it wasn't the same. It's like when white people try to make Mexican food. It's just not right.
Today I was perusing Facebook, and my neighbor posted a status about Mardi Gras. She's from Louisiana, by the way. Then, someone asked her about King Cake, and she posted the simplest recipe I've ever seen for King Cake, EVER! And, trust me...
I've looked! She even said it tasted good, and since she's from Lousiana, she KNOWS what it should taste like, right?
Now,as I sit here typing, the King Cake that I am attempting to make is sitting in my garage to rise, and I'm EXCITED! I hope it tastes good and isn't totally nasty. I'm afraid I might've gone overboard with the cinnamon/sugar mixture, but I've never made it before, so I don't know how much you're supposed to put on those things.
IF this turns out okay, I'll post pictures and how to do it. B/c it was really easy.
And why hasn't anyone told me how fun it is to knead dough? That was awesome!
So, that's all I wanted to write about. KING CAKE! YAY!
