I don't have much to report, but I thought I should do some sort of post that isn't the picture thingy-ma-bobber.
The kids are watching Despicable Me again. We JUST watched it. It was pretty funny. I laughed out loud quite a bit. Laughing out loud during a movie or show really means it's funny to me b/c I normally just laugh on the inside.
You know what always made me laugh the hardest when I watched it? The Headlines section on Jay Leno. I haven't watched that in forever.
I just realized that Vector on Despicable Me is Jason Segal, aka: Marshall from How I Met Your Mother. Fun! I love IMDB.
We've had some sick kids in my home lately. It started with Lauren having a cough and keeping me up at night with coughing/crying. Then, after several nights of no-sleepy time for Mommy, I broke down and put her in the guest bed with me. It worked. She didn't cry as much. Unfortunately, that was the same night Evan started getting sick. He started coughing, and he woke up freaking out saying his mouth hurt. If you haven't experienced an Evan freak-out, you have no idea the intensity of it. Getting him to calm down is near impossible. I went and got him a cup of water, had him drink some of it, and then he finally laid back down. I drug my exhausted self back to bed hoping that the worst was over.
No. No, it wasn't.
Evan woke up crying again. I went in there and was nice as I could possibly be under the circumstances. I mean, I can be a loving and caring mother when I'm well-rested. But when I'm awoken in the middle of the night repeatedly, I'm just not nice anymore. Andrew can attest to that. He gets the worst of it. Usually in the form of me whacking him until he wakes up.
So back to Evan. He was coughing and freaking out again. I tried to tell him to calm down and that the crying was making the coughing worse. He wasn't listening. Eventually, he was coughing so hard that he gagged himself and threw up a little on his blanket. Looking back, I feel sorry for the poor guy. I really do. However, in my sleepless state, my reaction was, "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! WHAT THE FREAKIN' CRAP KIND OF NIGHT IS THIS?!" I took his blanket and gave him a new one, put the humidifier in his room, and rubbed his chest down with vapor-rub. I got him to drink more water and calm down, and he finally went to sleep. Whew.
Of course, then I had to go lay back down on a hard bed with another coughing kid who likes to kick my back. It was not the best night for sleep.
After that, Evan got a fever for a few days. He's still got a cough, but the night freak-outs have passed. Thank goodness! I actually got a fully uninterrupted night of sleep last night! Hallelujah!
I don't know why our family continues to get sick. It's getting a little old.
In happier news... uh, um... I'm sure there is some, but I'm drawing a blank.
In stupid Johanna news... We had a free code to get a redbox movie, and I apparently don't know how to properly operate a redbox machine and ended up paying for it. GENIUS!
OH! I know some happy news... Star Trek:TNG will be on Netflix Instant Queue in April! WOOHOO! AH-mazing!
Lauren got into our laundry detergent and spilled it all over the laundry room then tracked it into the living room. At least it smelled good...
More happy news! I went shopping with the kids today, and they were fantastic! I think the trick is not letting them sit in the cart next to each other. Evan walked around, and I asked him to grab stuff off the shelves for me. It was awesome! Best grocery trip with the kids EVER! I was so proud...
Okay, my house is a disaster, and I need to fix some food. Blaaaah... That is NOT happy news.
