I've successfully avoided the computer for two whole days. I've been working on getting our house in tip-top shape... and I also dug up some of the ugliest plants on the planet from our front yard.
Whoever planted those ugly things in the front yard should be shot. The roots were the devil! For visual purposes, the plants were in a small space right in front of our front porch. okay, so the roots were so long that they went out into my YARD for a few feet! And they were so creepy looking. I kept thinking that the plant was going to wrap it's tentacle-like roots around me and drag me into the ground. I was out there for hours but I finally got the stupid things out. I need to plant the new bushes out there, but I haven't yet... our yard kinda looks like crap at the moment b/c of it.
OH, and I found a frog colony under one of the plants! Seriously, like 8 frogs under this plant. And I would scream everytime I saw a new one. haha It's not like I'm afraid of frogs, but when you're digging and minding your own business and all the sudden you see these eyes looking at you from the dirt... it's a little freaky. I felt bad for destryoing their home so i found an old halloween bucket (ya know the pumpkin head kind...), put some dirt in there, and put every frog I found in there. Then I released them into my back yard today... in a nice shady place, of course.
And since we're on the subject of live animals scaring Johanna...
I SAW A MOUSE IN OUR ATTIC!!! Holy crap! I freaked out! I screamed and screamed! I've seen mice before, but it was always in someone else's house... so it didn't bother me that much b/c I knew I could always go back to my mouse-free home... but it's sooo different when you see one in your own house. and it ran RIGHT in the spot that I needed to go, right next to the attic ladder... so I stood there forever whining to myself about how I had to go over there and he was going to run towards me... and then I got afraid that if he DID run towards me, I would fall out of the attic and hurt myself. Anyway, I finally got the courage to go down the ladder... and I washed my hands afterward b/c I touched the floor. I haven't been in the attic since... and anything that needs to go in the attic is now taken up there by Andrew until that vermin is DEAD! DEAD, i say!
I went to the girly doctor today. Always a pleasant experience... *note sarcasm* I think my doctor was hitting on me which was slightly amusing and disturbing. He's always called me baby and told me how pretty I am, which is weird but he does that with all his patients. I saw him tell an old lady that once, too, so I'm okay with it. But it is weird to have your OB/GYN tell you how pretty you are right before he takes a look at your *cue cuckoo bird sound*. I really like my doctor, though, despite his weird quirks. He said he'll miss me when we move. I wish he could come to Florence when we move there in April b/c he's a good doctor...
What's that, you say? Oh, yes, we're moving to Florence, AL, the home of my ancestors, in April. THAT'S why i've been getting the house in tip top shape... THAT'S why I spent hours digging up ugly plants... and THAT'S why... well, i don't really have anything else to add to that list...
But, yeah, I haven't mentioned it before b/c we didn't want word to get out to Andrew's work before he gave his notice... buuut, since he's telling his boss on Monday anyway, I figure, what the heck? It's time to let my livejournal friends in on the news.
I'M LEAVING LOUISIANA! Woo!
We all know I'm not a huge fan of the place, but I will miss some things... our house, for instance. I'll miss my girls at church. I've grown attached to the little boogers and thinking about not seeing them grow up makes me sad. I'll miss king cake b/c goodness knows, I love the stuff... but that's pretty much it. We're moving b/c my dad offered for us to live in a house he owns rent free while Andrew goes to school. He'll work for my dad doing whatever and our "rent" will be like, mowing dad's grass and stuff like that. So the hours will be flexible so he can go to class. It'll be good. We're excited about being closer to family.
We're not excited about the cut in pay... or no insurance... oh, and we're going to be living in a foreclosure house which just happens to be the house of one of my elementary school friend's grandparents. Kinda awkward... and I haven't lived so close to home in 5 years. Being far from home has made some relationships better, and I'm worried that being so close might mess that up... but, hey, enough of the bad stuff. The good stuff is that I'll be close to my family. We'll be close to Andrew's family. And I'll be close to some of my old friends. And Andrew will be GOING TO SCHOOL! Hallelujah! :D
Well, i better go. my man is on his way home, and i need to fix dinner. sorry this was so long... even though I'm not really sorry, I thought I should say that. If you didn't want to read it, I guess you didn't have to, so why should i be sorry if you read it and didn't really want to? ha, rambling... bye!
