Someone is as good as Till - seriously!

I became a Judas Priest fan about - oh dear lord - 27 years ago! That's a bit scary. Anyway, I've never really talked about them here before. But I have once again been totally taken with the Sin After Sin CD this past year. I listen to it at least once a day. I can't help but make comparisons to Rammstein.

I guess most people associate Judas Priest with the popular songs like Breakin' the Law and You've Got Another Thing Coming. Good songs, for sure, but that's like saying R+ = Du Hast. The Sin After Sin CD doesn't have any of the big hits on it. And OMG it was released when I was only 11 years old, hahaha! But it shows off Rob Halford's voice so well. His voice is different from Till's, but it is similar because a lot of people don't realize how awesome it really is! He sings low so well, and does the whole "oh woe is me" thing better than anyone! Something else I will say for Rob is that his range is fucking unbelievable. Till is awesome, but he surely can't hit those high notes!
Sometimes I listen to songs like Last Rose of Summer, or Here Come the Tears, and I wish like crazy that I could hear Till try that. I know he sounds lousy singing in English, but the emotions are there in those songs, and that's why I think it would be cool. I have these stupid daydreams about him just fooling around with Richard in the studio, singing these songs when no one else is around. Yes, I tend to daydream wayyyy to much.

Anyway, I hope you'll at least check out these few songs. You might love it! And even if you hate it, I'm wondering if you can at least understand why it makes me think of Till.

This song is soooo Till, lyric wise. Here Come The Tears:

This might be a stretch when it comes to Till, but I really can imagine him singing it. I am a hopeless romantic...

And just for the hell of it, here is Diamonds and Rust. One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. I think it was originally done by Joan Baez. *shudders* Thank god for Judas Priest's version!!! It's a gorgeous song.

I totally love all the heavy metal kick ass JP songs, too. But it's these more emotional ones that remind me just how talented this guy is. His voice is extremely underrated. I just wish more people were aware that Judas Priest is a whole lot more than what most people think.
