Note from Cleveland....

Feb 24, 2008 15:00

Well, I'm trying to kill some time, because I just finished my audition at Cleveland, and I have a voice lesson in about an hour with a teacher here. It's been fun for the most part, although I have to say that Cleveland as a city is not my favorite. I like the area around the school of music, but the rest of the city is kind of bland.

My audition went well, although I was a little tired. They heard three pieces, and then I had a short interview. The teacher that I want to study with here is SO NICE. She's even giving me a short lesson later this afternoon.

The conservartory here is interesting. It's linked to the university next to it, so that students can take core classes and stuff. I like it for the most part. Their recital hall is BEAUTIFUL. The whole wall behind the stage is glass- all the way to the ceiling. Really, really cool.

I got to go hear the Cleveland Orchestra last night in Severance Hall. It was amazing! They played parts of Telemann's "Table Music" (I forgot the "real name", lol), C.P.E Bach's Flute Concerto in A major, and Haydn's Symphony No. 94 (the "Surprise" symphony!). Needless to say....it was a great experience.
I also get to go hear a dress rehearsal of "The Magic Flute" tonight- the school of music is doing it next weekend. I'm really getting in some great experiences here!

OK, I'm totally wasting time, and people are waiting for computers. I'll be back in the peach state on Monday night. :)
