My mommy...
It's been a rough week...
Got a call Monday. My mom started feeling faint Monday morning. She laid on the couch and started going in and out of consciousness. Then she lost feeling in her arms and legs. My dad took her to the hospital right away and they found out she had a stroke. She's only 50 years old!!! This morning (Wednesday) She had another mild one while in the hospital.
I'm a mess to say the least. I'm trying very hard to keep it together and not get really down. I feel better when I see her because she doesn't look bad. However, the doctor said that there is a huge possibility that it will continue to happen.
Here's the kicker... She worked very hard to become sober. My mom was a closet drinker/alcoholic for 5 years. She went through AA and has been sober for about 4 months now.
After all that hard work, it's almost like she's being punished. A nurse/friend of mine said that it is common for an alcoholic..recovering or not to have the kind of stroke she's had.
What a slap in the face to her.
