I can't believe I haven't found time to post since Monday!!
First of all a very Happy Birthday to
mad_brilliant_ I know I'm a couple of days late with it, but hope you had a lovely day *hugs*
Things have been a little more hectic than usual this week. A friend of my Gran's got taken into hospital on Tuesday. So Wednesday and Friday night I had to take my Gran off to the local hospital to visit her.
But other than that - Thursday night the lads were playing up at Josephs Well again. I don't know if any of you guys were there in April last year when James Marsters played there, but I had this total flashback moment on Thursday. I was sat in the little alcove waiting for a couple of the bands to change over and all of a sudden I realised that James Marsters had stood on that stage and I had been standing a little way in front of the stage and I got goosebumps just remembering it all. Weird!!
But the guys played really well even though there were less people there than there had been last Saturday. They played a new song that totally rocked!! Is a little more punky than the usual stuff that they play and I think that's why I liked it. I do like my rock a little harder than they play usually, but as Scouse says - it's music to swing your legs too.
Then last night, after we had got back from the hospital, I decided to go out again. A guy that I work with at the school is in a band and they were playing at The Wardrobe in Leeds. So I thought I'd go over and see what they were like. Normally these things start about 8 to half 8, so I got there about quarter past 8 and asked the barman what time the club bit opened downstairs. He said doors were at 10pm. So I thought I'd wait around and the band would be on about half 10.
So stood at the end of the bar eyeing up the cute barman!! Got to be done when I had nothing better to do - lol. Then about 10ish, I went to go downstairs, but got chatting to the guy that you had to pay to go down and he ended up not charging me, which was nice. But then after I had gone, I was chatting with a different barman downstairs and he said the band weren't going on until midnight!! By this time I just thought 'sod it'. I had waited this long, so I would stick it out until midnight.
It was worth it all in the end. The band are a 9 piece and they are a funk/soul band. Playing covers and just really got the whole crowd going. I did enjoy the evening, even if it ended up being one of the weirdest nights I've had in a while and with the nights out I keep having - that's saying something!!
But anyway - have had a tiring day today as I didn't get in until 2am this morning and then I had to get up to go see Vicki, before another hospital visit this afternoon. But at least I can have a lie-in in the morning.
