strategic voting [definitely not pc]

canadians will be heading to the polls this may for another federal election, and that means i need to decide who gets my vote. the following is a discussion that adam and i had on the subject:

adam: i'm looking at the party platforms and all i'm seeing from the opposition parties is that they're not the conservatives.

me: we should vote solely on who looks the best, then. maybe the green party... that one has a woman leader, right? something... may..

[quick google search later]

me: oooh! elizabeth may! she looks smart and savvy. she's got glasses!

adam: i dunno... she looks a little fat to me.

actually, i think she looks like an amalgam of all the mothers of the folks in my age group.

me: well, you either get her or the skinny, creepy men with shifty eyes.

stephen harper's eyes are truly the shiftiest of eyes.

those eyebrows practically begged for a gif. heh heh... michael gifnatieff...

adam: jack layton doesn't look that bad.

me: except that he looks just like the token affable uncle that would molest the protagonist in a coming-of-age movie.

have you seen this man?

adam: he's got my vote!

me: [raises an incredulous eyebrow.]

~*~~*~~*~

and so devolves yet another "grown-up" conversation in our home.

needless to say, i'm still undecided, but it was fun to try and draw the candidates (i'll be the first to admit that i suck at drawing likenesses... my drawings of me are proof of that -- but practice might remedy that).

ladybrock directed my attention to this area of the maclean's website. it's good to know that someone is trying to keep the candidates honest and not allowing them to get away with spouting off completely bogus stats and claims.

vote!, a---, moving pictures, art, quotes
