by all means i should be snuggled in bed with my sick husband and i feel bad for not being there right now. so i'll make this brief.
every wednesday night i go to a church homegroup. long story short, we've decided to challenge ourselves to read the bible in a year. as a christian, it has always felt a little bit odd that i have never read through the entire thing. sure, to look at, it's a daunting task but when i step back, i just read several thousand-page tomes of fantasy by george r. r. martin. surely i'm old enough to accomplish this! of course, genesis is an interesting book. once i hit leviticus we'll see how my resolve wavers.
perhaps it's not completely true that i haven't read the bible cover to cover. when i was little, my mum borrowed the picture bible for me to read. a graphic novelization of the bible! i ate that thing up!
strangely enough, this is one of the books that both adam and i read in our childhood...
we also got the stories in the handouts after sunday school (called "pix"... did anybody else get those things?). those came with the equally thrilling graphic novelization of ben hur. spoilers!: that bit where ben hur's mother and sister get leprosy gave me the heebie jeebies!
anyways, so far i am excited about the prospect of picking up on things that weren't clear to me as a kid and growing more spiritually in my walk with God.
but i have to say, every time i read about sarah (abraham's wife) i saw her in that signature pink headscarf that she was depicted in all those years ago.
so you're telling me that she wore the same clothes when she was 20 as when she was 90? you'd think her fashion sense might have changed in that time!
