on friday, adam and i caught a ferry to victoria to visit his sister and parents. this morning, we went out for brunch at a place called "the blue fox cafe." there was a lineup to get in and, when we left, the lineup was still there. it's one of those places that you know is just good (like "bon's off broadway" or "anton's" here in the lower mainland). it's not as much of a greasy spoon establishment as "bon's" but the breakfast was delectable. people also took to drawing on napkins and the servers would display them under the glass of the tables.
it's been a long time since i drew on a napkin (or placemat for that matter) in a restaurant, but at the others' behest, adam's sister and i were given pens and bent our heads diligently over our napkins while we waited for our food to arrive.
here's what i came up with:
our server immediately took our napkins away when our food came and put them under the glass of a vacant table. i felt like a kid who had just had their drawing displayed on the fridge.
the cherry blossom trees were in full bloom out in victoria. they looked just like cotton candy :)
more blooms and my teeth. oh man, my teeth are so julia robertsian :(
and here is a drawing i did as a christmas/birthday present for my friend, j----. i am horrible at drawing people that i know, but hopefully he's happy with it. it elicited many chuckles from the gamers in our group who get the inside jokes
from our days of playing d&d together.
