Yes, a little outrage can be helpful. :) The funny thing is, Palin may energize HER base, but she's also energizing OURS, and I think she'll actually bring out some of the women voters who were in Hillary's camp who are sill nursing their wounds. I mean, really. They might not love Obama, but the idea of a McCain/Palin ticket should rouse even the most jaded Hillary supporters, and even moderate Republican women. I think a lot of women who support the GOP for financial reasons or whatever will see this as a blatant attack on women's rights.

It's just such a clear thing to me...McCain/Palin = Moving backward.

I hear ya. I think a liberal Hillary supporter would have to be holding a pathological grudge to support McCain at this point.

**McCain/Palin = Moving backward.

If you mean back as far as the Puritans, most definitely. ;)
Scary pit bull inquisition...*shiver*

Yikes. I was talking to Andy today about a friend of a friend who just lost her baby to a stillbirth only 4 weeks before she was due! Everything had been fine up to that point. In Palin's world, that poor woman could be charged with criminal neglect if they found so much as a hair out of place regarding her self- and prenatal care.

I do NOT want to go there, and you KNOW that pro-lifers would push it that far if they could.

Oh man...poor thing! That's always SUCH an awful thing to go through.

And you're right, people like Palin would do their best to use tragedies like that to push an anti-choice agenda. Remember Bush and the whole "insurance for fetuses" thing (even though medicaid already covers prenatal care) and calling murder of a pregnant woman "double homicide"? It's legislation that SEEMS like it's for the good of pregnant women...but really it's all geared towards chipping away at Roe vs Wade.

**In Palin's world, that poor woman could be charged with criminal neglect...Yeah, exactly! And I can't imagine going through losing a child (I DO consider it a child once it can live outside the womb)...and then a CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION! Even the allegation that the mother had something to do with the child's death would be so hellish to go through ( ... )

Possibly...It is so hard to predict for this because of the weird currents, differences in water temperature, etc. It all depends on how sharp of a turn they make as they near the coast. It looks like she'll hit closer to the NC/SC border, around Cape Fear but we won't really know. My area already has a 60-70% of tropical storm winds (according to the NHC) and as far north as Ocracoke (about 80 miles south of me) has a hurricane watch in effect ( ... )

Well...I hope that it isn't much. I hate these things really. I want to invent something that will not allow these hurricanes to develop. HA!

I'm afraid the closest we're likely to get to that is finding a real solution to global warming.
People can say all they want to about us being in an "active cycle" for hurricane formation, but I have NEVER seen anything like this before. I've seen large numbers of storms form but never of this intensity on such a regular basis.
It's getting a wee bit spooky.

Don't even get me starting on that "she's in the NRA" bullshit, that bitch didn't practice trigger/firearm safety in the shots of her on the firing range. When not firing, or not being in a threat situation , your finger is to be out side the trigger guard. Not on the trigger. She is clearly talking with the soldier behind her, her finger is on the trigger and she's distracted from where the weapon is pointed.

I'm personally waiting for the heckler to ask how did your "abstinence only" program work for your daughter....
