Yes, another incident involving strange birds...
Quite a few of my neighbors believe in free-range anything-with wings.
Since I'm so slack with the grass mowing and stuff, my yard is their favorite place to visit.
That's fine--I can deal with occasionally shooing a rooster off my car.
For the last year, there's been a bird visitor that shows up occasionally and hangs around in from of my house, often for weeks at a time. It's big (small goose sized) and slightly scary looking.
I previously had no idea what it was. Today, after dodging it to turn into my driveway, I decided to look it up.
It's a Muscovy Duck.
Imagine having that bastard stare at you every time you walk out to check your mail.
He hangs around right by the road and stares at people. It's positively eerie. Thankfully, he doesn't seem prone to viciousness--just a big, dumb, shuffling, lurking spooky duck.
No one has run over it yet *knock on wood*...possibly because they're frightened of it. However, I have seen several people swerve in terror and/or slow down and point.
I will have to get photo evidence of my resident "Spooky Duck" at some point when I'm not feeling lazy.
On another, less wildlife oriented note, my project for the weekend is extensions.
It will be my first time attempting them with a full head of long hair--I'm doing braid because, with as much hair as I have, I'd either have big gaps in the sectioning or wind up looking like a potted plant.
I expect it to involve about 16 hours, burns from melted plastic, sore shoulders and fingers and me walking around with a "braid mullet" for at least half a day.
Wish me luck. If this doesn't relieve my hair boredom, I'm shaving the shit off.
