I was just catching up on LJ and came across the coolest post from
n_decisive so I'm stealing the idea (hope you don't mind).
"Freedom is not merely the opportunity to do as one pleases; neither is it merely the opportunity to choose between set alternatives. Freedom is, first of all, the chance to formulate the available choices, to argue over them -- and then, the opportunity to choose."
-- C. Wright Mills
Is there some wrong you perceive you've done or caused, some harm you brought upon me, or anything such as this that you wish had never happened? Have you lied about me, been unkind, or been keeping secrets and wish to be free of the guilt involved? If so, this is the meme for you!
Today is my Amnesty Day. Leave me a comment apologizing for whatever it is you think you have/have done and I will not hold it against you, period. I shall cast it aside and approach our relationship with no residual malice or reservation. Knowing WHY you did a thing is a welcome addition, but not a necessity.
I'm screening comments, so if you've been feeling awful, need to confess and wish to move on, no one will know what happened except for me. At no point will comments be unscreened, referred to or listed for others to see.
Rachel note: If you want a reply, let me know and I will send you a private LJ message. Since we all know how hard it is for me to resist replying to things, I can't promise I won't do so anyway if I feel you need to hear forgiveness from me...but, of course, no obligation to respond.
I plan to leave the Amnesty Day post open forever in case someone wakes in the middle of the night and needs to apologize, release, etc.
Be well, and be less guilt-laden...
