Part Finale
Sho came home one day after a particularly short day of filming hoping to surprise his little wife by being there when she got out of school. It had been almost 3 months since their vacation together with everyone and their first anniversary had just happened. He was surprised to find Emily sitting on their couch staring into space when he walked in the door. He stopped in the doorway and she looked up at him. He was about to say something when her lip began to tremble and tears began forming. Sho dropped his things and ran over to her. She hugged him tightly and he could only wait for her to speak.
“Please darling… why are you upset? Did something happen at work? Is that why you are home?”
She shook her head and sniffed. Sho was panicking since she never cried unless something was very wrong. Since she wasn’t speaking Sho had hundreds of possible explanations running through his head and they were all growing steadily worse than the one before. Finally she took a deep breath and looked at him.
“I wasn’t feeling well this morning so I left early…” Sho interrupted.
“Why didn’t you call me?!” He stopped short as she glared at him.
“… As I was saying I was not feeling well so I came home. And I am not upset… I am really really happy but I’m not sure how you will react.”
Sho blinked at the cryptic message and cocked his head to the side. He knew it would be best to simply wait for her to continue so he kept his mouth shut and prodded her to continue. She hesitated and he saw the tears forming in her eyes again.
“Sho… I… You… We…. Shit, I didn’t think it would be this hard. I called my family and told them easily… (sigh) Sho… You are going to be a father.”
He was silent as he let her words sink in. As realization hit him he felt his jaw drop and he looked at her hard. He searched her face for any sign that she wasn’t telling the truth. Seeing her honesty his lips broke into a broad grin and he hugged her tightly.
“A father… A FATHER… Oh my god I am going to be a father!!! Em, baby are you sure? I have to tell the others. They are going to be uncles… Oh my god… I love you so much baby.”
He was jumping up and down for joy and Emily felt a load off her shoulders. To be honest he was more thrilled than she could ever imagine being. She had gone to the doctor for a routine visit and when the man had asked when her last period was she realized that she couldn’t remember. She had told the man as such and he had smiled knowingly. He had given her a pregnancy test and promised she would have the results a few weeks after the visit. Sure enough when the mail came that afternoon shortly before Sho had come in she had opened the letter and was shocked to see that she was indeed pregnant. Sho’s chattering brought her out of her reverie.
“Emily why were you worried about how I would react. I love you so much so this is the best news I could ever ask for.”
“I guess I was more worried about telling Johnny than you. I’m not sure Sho… I guess I am a little scared.”
Sho nodded understandingly and held her in his arms. They agreed to tell the others the next day and so the rest of the day the couple spent with each other. The next day found them at the Jimusho bright and early that Saturday morning. She followed Sho to their green room and smiled as the others greeted her loudly. Aiba ran forward to hug her like he always did but Sho pulled her out of his way and held her wrapped in his arms while Aiba looked at them like a lost puppy. Emily sighed and shook her head before pushing the man off of her. She noticed the others watching her as well and when she met Ohno’s stare the man’s eyes widened comically and a broad grin graced his face. Jun noticed and asked him what was going on.
“Riida, is there something you know that we don’t?”
“I just have a guess but if I am right you and Emily-chan will get to go shopping together very soon.”
Jun looked at the young woman in confusion as she chuckled and nodded to Ohno. After she had all of their attention she took a deep breath and told them the news. Hilarity ensued of course.
“Minna… I actually have a very good reason for being here today.”
“You never need a reason to come see us Emily”
She smiled at Aiba who still reminded her of a lost puppy since Sho still hadn’t allowed him near the girl.
“Thanks Aiba-chan… Anyway I am here just to tell you guys something… You all are going to be uncles.”
Ohno smiled smugly at the announcement while Nino nearly dropped his precious DS in shock. He stared open mouthed at the couple while Jun smiled brightly and started discussing with the girl when they would start shopping. Meanwhile Aiba stared between her and Sho trying to reason through what she was saying. As realization hit him he let out a shout and pushed past Sho to hug the girl furiously.
“Wah!!!! Congratulations!!!! Am I really going to be an uncle!??!”
She laughed and nodded to the hyper man. After a few minutes of congratulations Sho and Emily left to finally tell Johnny. Emily was shaking like a leaf as they stood outside the man’s office and Sho could only grip her hand gently. Finally his secretary allowed them to go in and they walked forward to stand in front of the man’s desk. Johnny smiled gently and greeted them.
“To what do I owe the honor of your visit today children?”
Sho gripped her hand and she gave a slight nod before continuing.
“Actually Kitagawa-san, we have a very good reason to be here today. I found out yesterday that I am pregnant…”
She never thought the day would happen but as the words left her mouth Johnny was completely silent. He looked at the couple for a few minutes before a smile graced his lips.
“So does that mean I am going to be a grandfather then?”
Emily felt her worries melt away as Sho squeezed her hand and nodded at Johnny. The man chuckled and asked why she had been so worried about telling him the news. She looked him dead in the eye and told him because he was ‘fucking terrifying… no offense meant sir’. Johnny was still chuckling as the couple left his office. The next few weeks were crazy since she had to go in for numerous doctors’ appointments (that Sho insisted on) and she had to change all sorts of things around her. She found out from her appointments that she was about 3 months along which made her blush remembering that night during their vacation. She and Jun were constantly out shopping during her pregnancy. The funny thing though was as worried as she was about the whole thing Sho was even more worried. As time went on there were times that she wanted to strangle the man and others he was the only person she wanted to be around. She blamed this all on the hormones.
And so nine months passed…
Sho was pacing the waiting room while the rest of Arashi sat back and watched in amusement. They had gotten to the hospital the night before and Emily had just gone into labor that morning. Every time a nurse walked out Sho would stop and stare hoping that she would come and speak to him. Finally after fifteen minutes Jun was sick of the older man’s pacing.
“Sho! Will you relax and sit down… Emily will be fine but so help me if you don’t stop I will tell her how you acting.”
Sho paused and smiled ruefully at his band members. He sat next to Ohno and simply sat watching the door. 30 minutes passed in comfortable silence when finally the doctor came out smiling. He approached the group and looked around at them.
“Sakurai-san?”
Sho stood up and looked at the man. He was holding his breath as he waited for the man to say something. The man smiled brightly and extended a hand. Sho took it and they shook.
“Congratulations Sakurai-san. You are now the proud father of a beautiful baby boy and girl. Your wife is just fine though she is resting now. Would you all care to follow me?”
Sho let the information sink in and he was quiet as he followed the doctor to Emily’s room. They entered the room quietly and saw her asleep in the hospital bed. Sho went to her side and gently held her hand. A nurse came in and asked if they would like to see the babies. Together the five of them went to go see the newest additions to their family. They were tiny little things and were asleep as they approached. But as soon as they stopped outside the room the infant’s eyes opened and stared back at the group with their mother’s sharp hazel eyes. They both had wavy black hair and Ohno said they were a perfect combination of their parents. Sho grinned goofily at his children and placed a hand on the glass separating them. Both of them reached a hand out as well seemingly recognizing their father. After a few minutes they returned to the hospital room to find Emily awake and sitting up while a nurse took her vitals.
After she left Emily found herself face to face with her husband. He smiled brightly and hugged her. She laughed breathily and kissed the man on the cheek. He sat on the edge of her bed and let the others greet her as well. After everyone had greeted her and taken a seat she smiled and talked to them.
“Well minna, how are you? Just to let you know darling you will not have any more children out of me. My tubes were tied because there a few complications but nothing major…”
Sho nodded understandingly and hugged her again. He assured her that she had given him all he could ever ask for and more. She was healthy and his children were healthy. She sighed against him and looked around the room at the others inviting smiles. The doctor came in the room and looked around at the group.
“How are you feeling Emily-san?”
She assured the doctor she was feeling just fine and he asked if she wanted him to bring the babies in. She nodded and chuckled at Sho’s boyish grin. A few minutes later two nurses came in carrying the twins. They were struggling in the poor nurses’ grip but stilled as soon as they were given to their parents. Emily stared down at her two children and smiled brightly. All of the sudden their room burst open and Ren, Dean and Raven entered the room breathing heavily. Emily smiled at her friends and the three came to her side and smiled down at the babies. Raven placed an arm around her best friend and grinned down at the little boy in her arms.
“My aren’t you a beautiful little thing. You have your momma’s eyes and your daddy’s… shoulders.”
Sho gasped and pouted which caused both girls to giggle.
“Ne, Em… What happened to no children?”
“Well plans change dear…”
Raven grinned and kissed her best friends’ cheek. The others were laughing and joking around with each other and Emily smiled in spite of herself. This was her family and she didn’t want anything to change. She was out of the hospital within the week and soon her life started to get back to normal. When she thought back on the first year of her children’s life she realized how much more of a mother figure Sho was.
In the future…
“Ruka and Akio Sakurai!! Get your bums down here right this second... or else!”
A few seconds later the sound of feet were heard coming down the stairs. The children had the decency to look slightly abashed as they stopped in front of their mother. She was furious and they knew exactly why. The children were both five years old and had the same sneaky attitude as their mother which is why she knew everything about their little prank. They met her hazel eyes and smiled cutely. Her frown remained and she pointed to the briefcase sitting beside her. They both looked down and heard her sigh.
“Why would you all do that to your poor father? He called me just now freaking out because he couldn’t find any of scripts. You both need to get your shoes on because now we have to take it to him.”
The kids couldn’t contain their glee that their plan had worked. They always loved getting to see their uncles and father. Since the five of them worked together the kids didn’t get to see any of them all that often. The trio left their house and the kids raced each other to the car while their mother locked up the house. As they drove to their father’s work they chattered incessantly and their mother simply smiled slightly which proved to them that she was not angry. Emily shook her heads as her children switched between Japanese and English. They arrived at the Jimusho and she parked. Knowing the drill they each took one hand and walked inside together. The workers in the main lobby greeted them kindly and even waved to the children. They were almost to the elevator when suddenly the children cried out. Their grandfather was standing to the side and smiled as he saw them. They pulled out of their mother’s grasp and ran to the elderly man. Emily sighed and walked toward Johnny.
“How are you Johnny-san?”
“Just fine my dear… How are my little darlings? Still giving your father trouble I presume?”
Akio and Ruka nodded at the same time and Johnny could only shake his head. Emily took her children in hand and waved at the man. They took the elevator up to where the green room was and before she could knock they rushed in and commotion ensued. As she made her way quietly into the room she saw Aiba dancing around with her children while the others smiled. Sho walked over to her and greeted her. After breaking the kiss she handed the man his briefcase. She was rewarded with another kiss that was interrupted by her children’s voices.
“Okaa-san and Otou-san are kissing~~”
Emily looked at her children with an evil grin and wagged her eyebrows in their direction.
“How do you think you got here? There was kissing involved…”
Sho placed a hand over his little wife’s mouth before she could thoroughly scar their children. He felt her lips turn up in a grin at the action and she simply leaned back against him. The kids stuck their tongues out and ran back to their uncles.
“Aiba-nii, Ohno-nii, Nino-nii, Jun-nii!! Momma and Poppa are being stupid again!!”
Emily sighed as her brothers rescued her children just like they always did. She looked around the room at the craziness and smiled. This was exactly the way her family should be. Absolutely insane and perfectly suited to each other; she couldn’t imagine having a better life. Emily sighed and curled up in Sho’s lap as they watched the scene together.
“This is perfect, ne?”
“Un… I wouldn’t have it any other way. I am so glad I met you Sho. I love you.”
“hmm… I love you more darling.”
Emily leaned her head against Sho’s shoulder and smiled at their family. By the time Emily left she had been warned that the entire family would be over for dinner that evening. As they were on their way home she was yet again reminded why they had gotten such a large house. Her children rushed inside to make sure the house was clean as soon as they got there.
“Has it really been six years now? (sigh) Who knew the universe had such a crazy sense of humor?”
She went inside the house to help her children clean. The house was perfect within an hour but they all knew things would change as soon as the others showed up. While the kids played their Wii (courtesy of their uncles of course) she called Ren and Dean. After she had invited them over she called her best friend and after a long conversation with her invited her as well. She never believed that her friends would end up living in Japan with her but of course you never knew what the world had in store.
Shortly after she made the phone calls the doorbell rang and she opened it to find her three friends waiting to be let in. They came in the house and immediately went in to surprise her children. She heard screams of “Ren-nii, Dean-nii!!!” and she and Raven chuckled at the kids responses. The women walked into the room only to be swarmed as well. Raven and Emily cheerfully swatted the children away as they went into the kitchen leaving the two men to babysit.
Around 6 that evening the rest of her family showed up. She was waiting at the door when they arrived and ran straight into Sho’s arms. Akio and Ruka came around the corner as well and wound themselves around their parents’ legs. The other members of Arashi sat back and grinned at the couple. It was something they had gotten used to being around for the last few years. Even when they invited Sho out for an evening he rarely accepted because he wanted to get home quickly. Emily was now the assistant principle at her school and was known for being lenient as long you didn’t anger her. The students all loved her and the faculty knew better than to mess with the young woman. The evening went by quickly. Around 9 Sho took the kids to their bedrooms where they quickly fell asleep after all the excitement of the day. When he got back Emily was in the kitchen grabbing a bottle of water. She smiled as she noticed that he was sitting in her seat so she simply did what he expected her to do. As she settled herself in his lap the others were still busy chatting merrily. They continued to talk until almost midnight when Emily finally chased the guest out of the house. They all hugged and kissed her with promises of being around more often.
As they watched their friends leaving Sho and Emily stood pressed hip to hip. Sho had his arms wrapped around her shoulder so she simply wrapped her arms around his waist. As everyone left Emily let out a sigh.
“Will we ever have a normal visit with them around?”
“No… would you like to?”
“ha ha ha… No probably not… We wouldn’t have as much fun when they leave…”
She ran away from him to their room giggling the entire way. Realizing what she said Sho smirked and stalked her all the way to their room. She was laying on their bed and looking up at him through her curly hair. Sho growled and pounced on the bed. The couple was soon giggling softly and before long Emily was draped over his tall frame. Sho was content to simply lay with her in his arms but he wasn’t sure how long it would last. As if she sensed that Emily grinned at her husband and kissed him thoroughly. After she broke the kiss she snuggled in closer to his side. His grin was wide and boyish as she started to drift off to sleep. He placed a kiss to her temple and smiled down at her.
“Darling… If someone had told me life would have changed 6 years ago I would have never believed them, and then I met you. You turned my entire world upside down and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love you darling.”
Emily grinned to herself and muttered a quick “love you too baka” before falling asleep. They knew that they would have a great many adventures ahead of them but if there was thing they were certain of it was that they could make it. As long as they had each other and their family; they could make it.
