Showtime has given the full half-season run to their latest drama, Dexter.
The announcement comes just five episodes into the series, based on the novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter, reports Variety. It stars Michael C. Hall as a forensics expert for the Miami Police Dept. who moonlights as a justice-seeking serial killer; co-stars are Jennifer Carpenter, Lauren Velez, Julie Benz, Erik King, David Zayas and James Remar.
The season finale of Dexter airs December 17th on Showtime.

I've read both Dexter books and think that the writers of the show have done a pretty good job with the material. Dexter, the series, came as a surprise to me as it was something I accidentially watched and found facinating. Michael Hall does a fantastic job as Dexter. The way he joyfully cleans up a murder scene gives you the idea that this is the only time this character feels alive.
I'm off to watch BSG.
